View Full Version : The new Moto X Phone

Welcome, or Welcome Back!

We all know the Droid X is one of the most awesome-est phones ever produced, but with the widespread availability of 4G, coupled with 3 year old specs, our Droid X'es have lost some luster, so, what to do ...

Well, Moto-Goog has come to our rescue, enter the MOTO X Phone, one of the worst kept secrets of all time.

So, even tho the X is not yet available, (Aug 23- leaked release date for the Vz X (http://www.droidforums.net/forum/android-news/248437-verizon-release-dates-htc-one-moto-x-leaked.html)), we've added this new section of the forum for the new Moto X phones. Hang around and discuss the new X with the family and friends you know here. In addition, if you plan on getting one, (and even if you don't), we also urge you to head on over and sign up at our newest sister forum, the Moto X Forums (http://www.motoxforums.com/index.php), dedicated entirely to the new Moto X Phone (Registration page here (http://www.motoxforums.com/forum/register.php))

Will you get one (poll here) (http://www.droidxforums.com/forum/x-phone-general-discussion/50534-poll-will-you-getting-x-phone.html)?

I'm still waiting on price. If its reasonable (dirt cheap) I'll pick one up.

I'm in the market for a phone, but my #1 criteria will be root and dev support. I'm willing to wait until the MotoX releases to find out.

I'm intrigued by it, but I'm on the fence. The "customization" they offer is laughable to me. Color and/or upload a wallpaper to be pre-installed...pft. But, since I'm still grandfathered in on an unlimited plan, if the price is right I will probably get one. If Google provides them with an unlocked bootloader, even better. I'm not a big game player, so quad-core doesn't mean much. I mostly would like to get the latest-and-greatest android build with as little skinning as possible. I've read that Google's drive with the X Phone is to create a contextual experience rather than focusing on hardware, and I think that makes sense. All the hardware in the world doesn't mean much if the experience is clunky and unappealing. Apple, like it or not, focused more on experience and Apple proponents always point to that. How they achieve it is immaterial...the bottom line is it's smooth, seamless, and appealing. I can't argue that...my old X has always been a bit jerky no matter what ROM I'm running.

Has anyone confirmed the "always on" audio monitoring that was rumored to be incorporated for contextual searching (e.g. if the phone hears you talking about the movie Die Hard, and then is picked up, it would display information about Die Hard)? That seems a little intrusive to me (or a LOT intrusive)...but I haven't heard anything concrete yet.

This is one sexy phone!!! If it has a removable battery/improved camera optics and is "Nexus" like priced $$, I might be very interested :D:p

Just read this.....

Motorola has issued an official invite for an event on August 1st to the tech press for the official introduction of the Moto X Phone. Sporting a large image showing several young people, with one each holding a white and black Moto X, the company has also stated that it will be a private event with 'No Stage, No Crowds'. Apparently it will broken into 5 separate sessions for the press and the news embargo will continue until 3pm at which time it will be unleashed on the world . Only a couple of weeks to go folks. Are you ready?
