Im getting milestone x ntelos used. I was told phone was dropped and otterbox saved it from shattering but phone has random shut offs. Never been rooted or anything. What could i do perhaps? I was told long as not gaming or videos phone should stay on awhile and calls. Has been factory resetted. Could i root this or something and maybe that would do a fix? Or downgrade or upgrade. Im sure its 2.2.1

If its been dropped I'm not certain there is much you can do. You could try a SBF to .602 or .605 then root and install a custom ROM and see if it helps.

Well i think its just as it is out of the box im not sure. I dont have it yet. But thank you would the .602 or .605 work on Ntelos Milestone X? Are the roms and rooting procedure same like doomlords v4 root?

Ah, Milestone, you did mention that. Sorry.

In my signature you should see a X EzSBF link, it will have a milestone 604 link you could use, let me check for regular milestone SBF's as well.

Edit: There are some Ntelos files in here https://sites.google.com/site/motosbf/milestone-x-sbf-files

I have RSD lite is that what i use to flash this file and which one should i flash for Ntelos? there are 3 of them on the link you gave me. I already have the drivers too for Motorola. Which one should i flash? SHADO_X6_3.1.39_SHADOW_BP_C_02.06.00R_AP_BP_Flex_1 F_signed_secure_ntelos_1ff_P3_USERBLD.sbf.zip (http://goo.gl/IXOXh)

You would use RSD Lite for these files, yes. As for which one, I'm not familiar with Ntelos but the last one would be the latest available. But, if its anything like the Verizon android versions you may not be able to go back from it. If you have a full battery, I would try the second one first. If it works, great, if not then try the last one.

Ok cool thats grt., And as far as clockwork can this be done in Rom Mgr? And roms what would you suggest?

sd_shadow

install d2 bootstrap or modified dx bootstrap
don't think rom manager is going to be much use
see how to use d2 bootstrap in my list
sd_shadow's list of links for Droid FAQs, SBF, Rooting, ROMs.... https://docs.google.com/document/d/1Goawxdx_UBF4Y8lqzHYWf8Ha3yUcRK4faq0UWIlXLWA/edit

you should read rom threads to see which rom work well with gms
wizards miui is popular dx rom

Ok great i noticed Ntelos had an update to GB 2.3.5 should i grab that first and see what happens to the reboots or just sbf the whole thing back and start fresh?

sd_shadow

you can try the update, but updates must be done in order, phone must be completely stock and on correct system version

flashing a sbf, does not have those requirements, I am also unsure if the newest sbfs change the bootloader, like the DX

this probably should get move to the milestone section (http://www.droidxforums.com/forum/milestone-x-forum/), so others with more MX knowledge, can answer

Ok im pretty sure no updates or anything has been done with this phone.

sd_shadow
02-23-2013, 12:46 PM
you maybe able to connect to wifi, then go to menu>settings>about phone>updates and try to update that way

I'm unsure of the update sequence the update for 2.2.1 maybe 2.3.3, then you would have to select check for update again to get 2.3.5 or whatever is next

edit:
looks like update from 2.2.1 is 2.2.2 then 2.3.5

This optional software update provided by Motorola will upgrade your Milestone X from Android version 2.2.2 Froyo to. Android 2.3.5 Gingerbread (https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=2&cad=rja&ved=0CDwQFjAB&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.ntelos.com%2FDocuments%2Fmoto rola-milestone-x-android-update.pdf&ei=zw4pUdeUN8q9qAHnjICgBw&usg=AFQjCNFRTSP910wrvqCb0YYTH1KoD6cfgw&sig2=SZtVoJLZ7gvC-yLcwOYKdw&bvm=bv.42768644,d.aWM)

I recommend just flashing SBF with rsd lite(window) or sbf_flash(Linux)

cell2011
02-23-2013, 12:51 PM
Oh ok i cant just go to 2.3.5 from either 2.2.1 or 2.2.2?

sd_shadow
02-23-2013, 12:55 PM
depends on how many update versions motorola made

if you flash a SBF, you can just go directly to the system version you want

sd_shadow

according to http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1379826 (https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=2&cad=rja&ved=0CEEQFjAB&url=http%3A%2F%2Fforum.xda-developers.com%2Fshowthread.php%3Ft%3D1379826&ei=7RApUeyrAsyAqQH72YDoDQ&usg=AFQjCNEoeZZ5POkPEMIdKFyQwPriKujCgA&sig2=RqAYkisM6jdwwEi0GHk5iQ&bvm=bv.42768644,d.aWM), once on 2.3.5 you can only flash 2.3.5 sbf
which is fine, just keep that in mind

Ok i got word last night the guy im getting the phone from has told me this does have the GB update but never been rooted or rom. So should i just go back to stock and see if that fixes the reboots? And which sbf file is it i should grab? I hear someone say the first one out of the three files but im not sure.? Ive seen this http://dl.dropbox.com/u/54532450/1FF...los-US.sbf.zip (http://dl.dropbox.com/u/54532450/1FF-p3a_shadow_cdma_shadow-user-2.3.5-4.5.1_57_MX2-34-111019-release-keys-signed-ntelos-US.sbf.zip)

Messed up what can i do to make sbf work. Ive sbf ed a few different versions and was good rooted rom and did rom manager too but no 3 g and now i sbf one more time and suck on red logo. Acts like it wants to boot but goes back to red logo? Please help also afraid might have to jump start battery. Is there any way to charge this if stuck at logo?

Turn the phone off, pull the battery if you need to. Did you wipe data after the SBF? Get into stock recovery and wipe. If you can get in there it should charge also.
