Hi,
I have 2 Droid-X's. One is mine- the other a test box (so I do not screw up my real phone). Here is my plan

1. Make the second Droid-X look like my real one- I have all back upds etc and all the necessary apps (Bootstrap, Titanium, even ROM Manager if needed) but I need help to get the apps on backup from phone to this phone. I played with Titanium backup/Restore but it appears it does not look for a .zip or tar file
2. Once this is done- I will put a ROM on the second Droid and restore the apps and get the process down

Appreciate your help

For your apps you can just copy the titanium folder from your good phones SD card to your test phones SD card. Install titanium on the test phone and restore like that. The other apps as far as CWM and such you will need the apk or simply use wifi, sign into your Google account and download through play right?

Thank you- too obvious.

I tried that on the new phone- however titanium backup under restore all apps and data does not see anything. I verified with ES file explorer the backups are in Titanium folder on SD card

Go to preferences in titanium and make sure the destination folder is correct and/or scan the entire device. It will find them.

Thanks a ton- it found them :-)

Last question please- I also made a complete backup of the phone using CWR- but it make 2-3 zip files- can i restore from them too so it mirros the phone exactly?- if so how does it know which zip to use

That would be the easiest way to mirror the phones. Make a backup of phone 1 in CWM Recovery, transfer backup to phone 2 SD card or simply move the card to the other phone, then restore in CWM. Exact match.

They are- but I have 3 zip files CW made- will it know to use which one etc? i will place them on the root folder on the SD card

You mean three files per 1 backup? It will need all three. They should all be in 1 folder, place that entire folder on there.

delaneybob
11-21-2012, 08:11 PM
yes 3 zips and a couple files- should I make a folder or just place them in root folder

GoCliffGo05
11-21-2012, 08:15 PM
Weren't all of them already in a folder (named Clockworkmod, or something similar) on your good phone? They should all be contained in once place. Make a folder with the same name on your test phone and place all the files in it, just as it appears on your good phone.

delaneybob

It turns the screen black- then again will bring back recovery screen.

I check the camera button looks like it's not working (via the camera)- any other way to select?

delaneybob

Ok got it

I have 4 choices
3 with dates on it and rrot_vzw

The one it should be is there (date format) and at top of list

So do I choose the date format or root_vzw?

GoCliffGo05

Edit: Ok here you go https://sites.google.com/site/motosbf/droid-x-sbf-files The one all the way at the bottom is the one you want, .621.

You can then follow this guide on how to SBF: http://www.droidxforums.com/forum/droid-x-sbf/12015-complete-droid-x-sbf-flashing-guide.html Ignore the SBF file they are using but the steps should be the same. Make sure to download RSD Lite, Download and install the latest Motorola drivers and use the stock cable.

delaneybob
11-21-2012, 11:03 PM
I ma here on step 2- tried to go to step 3

1) Reboot into CWR
2) Go to "Mounts and Storage" and format /system, /data, and /cache.
3) Go to "Advanced" and wipe dalvik-cache.
4) Flash the zip.
5) Reboot
6) Toggle Superuser to allow Root Access.
7) Restore your previous backup.
8) Setup any widgets you want.
9) Enjoy!

I pressed volume buttons and got to a blue screen (instead of green) - there is an option to wipe cache-

EDIT- seeing on other posts it's 2 different things

GoCliffGo05

That is stock recovery.. you have wiped data though so everything will be gone again... try and reboot and see what happens. If it hangs get back into stock recovery and wipe data again then try to reboot.

Solid red Moto sign. I tried this as well
How to Boot Into the Clockwork Recovery on the Droid X | Chron.com (http://smallbusiness.chron.com/boot-clockwork-recovery-droid-x-28397.html)
but of course the camera button is suspect

GoCliffGo05

Try it a few times and see if you can get in.

If you cant pull your battery and then replace it. With the phone off hold the home button and then hold power. This should bring you to a screen with a triange on it. Press both volume keys at the same time to enter stock recovery. Using volume keys scroll to and Wipe data in stock recovery using the power key and then try to reboot. If it still hangs you need to SBF.

GoCliffGo05
11-21-2012, 11:57 PM
What software is updating? When you plug the phone in and click start you should see progress the whole time. It should take 10-15 minutes.

Yes, you will need to re-root and all of that, it's taken you completely back to stock. Good luck, you're welcome and goodnight. :)
