Hi, Never rooted before; but looking to start. I've look briefly into it. I own a droid x, ANDROID VERSION 2.3.4. I'm looking for current forums, ROMS, apps, and anything else to help me get started. I downloaded titanium backup, and z4root (superuser). I looked a little into ROMs. I would like to use liberty, or apex. Where can I find current information on rooting?

I don't have the links to what you need at the moment. Someone will be along shortly with the information I'm sure. Just posted to let you know Z4 won't work for your system version. Good luck.

(http://www.droidxforums.com/forum/droid-x-general-discussion/45783-important-info-621-update.html)It's a lot to take in as a noob, but read, reread and then ask some more questions where you get stuck. Good luck and have fun!

Alright, Thanks for the information. I'm reading as much as possible, but a lot of things just seem way out of date now. I'm not going to start until I have some updated information. So anything updated would be much appreciated. Is there any thing else I might need to know possibly?

You have to remember the X is 2+ years old. The information in the .621 post is about as up to date as it gets. It gives you the current root method and shows you all the blur based ROMs patched for .621. You can also check the forums here in the ICS ROMs section for more ROMs.

I looked at those link jeems but my phone is already .621? I dont know what flash is. I have no idea how any of this works. This is practically a foreign language at this point. I am seriously a big noob when it comes to rooting. I really want to get into the game, but its all jibberish to me.

I read I need a new firmware here "[How To] Root 4.5.621 with magic md5 (does not require Milestone SBF) (http://www.droidxforums.com/forum/droid-x-hacks/47718-how-root-4-5-621-magic-md5-does-not-require-milestone-sbf.html)" This supposly will help me get started rooting. So do I need a disc to burn on or a usb? I dont understand what Im doing here.

Yup, that's the newest way to root the .621. Start where it says Droid2_D2G_DX_DX2-RootCD-2012.iso (http://www.mediafire.com/?mim304k214kl41h). You need to download that file. It's basically a CD image so you will either need to make a CD or you can use a USB flashdrive. There are links depending on which you want to do. What OS is your computer running?
