Sadly, the day has come, its time to put the X to rest and move on to the next phone. I need to unroot and go back to stock so i can trade my phone in. ive already flashed back to an sbf before, but dont remember exactly how to do it again. the way i did it was that i had it as an operating system on my laptop and i would just plug my phone into my pc and boot into that, instead of windows. unfortunately that laptop broke so i cant just do that again. how do i do this again? i know theres ways to do it without using a pc, but id like to just do it how ive done it before since im comfortable with it and i remember it being very simple. when i was doing it, someone helped me out and told me i needed the 2.2.340 Full System SBF. ive been looking for that file and cant seem to find it anywhere. can i use another version or do i need to use that one? heres some info if its needed:

hopefully that helps, thanks in advance for the help

Ok that screenshot you posted has you on ICS (4.0.4) We need the system version you were on before flashing that ROM. Do you remember? .602, .605 or .621? If you don't remember system version do you remember which method you used to root it?

Alright here we go. The easiest way for you to SBF would be to download the .605 1KDS ezSBF file from here. http://www.droidxforums.com/forum/droid-x-sbf/23638-linux-solution-your-windows-rsd-lite-problems.html Again, make sure it is the .605. Burn the file to a disc, reboot your computer from the disc and follow the instructions. Wipe data after the SBF is done and you will be good to go.

There is another method you can use but it is longer and more "complicated." You can download the .605 SBF file from here https://sites.google.com/site/motosbf/droid-x-sbf-files and then follow the instructions from this thread on how to SBF using RSD Lite http://www.droidxforums.com/forum/droid-x-sbf/12015-complete-droid-x-sbf-flashing-guide.html Ignore the file they are using and just use the .605 one you downloaded. Also if you have problems downloading the RSD Lite version from there just google "download rsd lite" because there are newer versions out there and some work better for people than others. Wipe data in stock recovery after the SBF and you will be back on full stock.

I would recommend the first method, but it really is your choice.

Yea USB is fine. Scroll down a little bit on this page in the first post and there are instructions for it. http://www.droidxforums.com/forum/droid-x-sbf/23638-linux-solution-your-windows-rsd-lite-problems.html

J (http://www.droidxforums.com/forum/droid-x-sbf/23638-linux-solution-your-windows-rsd-lite-problems.html)ust note that i said wipe data after the SBF so your phone will be in "out of the box" condition so if there are any pictures or apps or anything you want to keep, back them up first or transfer them to a PC.

ahhhhh there we go, its all comin back to me lol. and ill remember, thanks. btw, i dontsee the exact one ur talking about, r u talking about:

Download - 1KDStaz_DX_4.5.605.iso (http://goo.gl/zlzn1) (4.5.605 Gingerbread)
229mb (234,881,024 bytes)
MD5 (1KDStaz_DX_4.5.605.iso) = 7d29849d65c4a9fb66549db9cdb40b74
(This version will let you root with D3 or ZergRush method after the SBF is done, also has root only option) ???

Yea once you sbf you can root. This is for people who need to sbf to get out of a soft brick or just want another system version and are planning to flash another ROM. Just skip the rooting part, it won't do it automatically you would have to enter a command to root it.

And yes that is the correct one. Says .605 in the end.

Do you have USB debugging enabled? Also is your phone in boot loader?

Don't know why it isn't reading your phone. Are you using the stock cable that came with it? Try a different port on your computer?

Or you could always just install the iso to the flash drive and boot your computer from the flash drive and do it in linux instead of the live environment. (Thanks to Nemo for suggesting this.)

You do have the latest Motorola drivers installed I suppose.

Drivers aren't needed in Linux. Can't hurt to install them but shouldn't be needed.
