What android version are you on and are you rooted? Going into stock recovery won't allow you to flash a new rom

I am on 2.3.4 How do I know if I'm rooted? I mean there are things asking for super access, does that confirm I am rooted?

If things are asking for super user access then you are likely rooted. There is a simple way to check too. Download Android Terminal Emulator from google play (its free.) Open it and you should see a $ in the prompt. Type 'su' without the quotes and press enter. It should then ask for super user access and the $ should turn to a #. If it does, you are rooted.

Download your ROM. Place it on your SD card. You need to download ROM Manager from the market. The free version will do. Open Bootstrap and hit bootstrap recovery. Open ROM Manager and hit update latest clockwork. Choose Droid X 2nd init when the device list pops up. Then hit reboot recovery still in ROM Manager. Then flash CM9 and the Gapps.

Don't use Bootstrapper to reboot recovery ever. That will bork your phone.

Well. It won't let me edit. You need Droid 2 Bootstrapper from the market.

If you're boot looping try wiping data.

Well......Things are good. I was able to reboot my phone and things are good in one sense. I decided to upgrade Liquid ICS and installed it fine and rebooted and thats fine. Does anyone still even have the Droid X and it rooted? I wanted to try something else but am not sure what other ROMS to try. I know there are alot out there to try and its of personal opinion. Also Does anyone know how to "freeze" some of the stock apps like Madden and Blockbuster? Or remove them now that my device is rooted?

Thanks

Titanium backup pro will freeze bloat and it is a life savor app, a must have for rooted. Still have my dx and I'm running miui from Wizard

As to the second part of your question you can download Titanium Backup and freeze and/or uninstall those apps. There may be another option but that's the one I use.

Edit: ninja'd :)

If you're on Liquid those apps should not be on your phone.
