View Full Version : Wrong date/time, won't update, can't read texts.

I spent the majority of today in the hospital. At one point, I had fallen asleep in the chair, and my phone slid off my leg and onto the floor. It instantly woke me up and I picked the phone up. (The battery had fallen out.) When I turned the phone back on, it showed my date as January 11 2012 and the time around 11pm. Neither of these were right. After turning it off and back on again, I figured it wouldn't correct the date and time because of a poor signal in the building. A little while later, I realize that I couldn't read any texts. I can hear when I get a new text, and see the unread message icon on the status bar up top, but if I try going to my inbox, it won't show me anything updated previous to when I dropped my phone.

Can anyone help out with this problem? It wouldn't be such a big deal, but I'm expecting calls from the pharmacy and the doctor's office, and I need my phone to be operating correctly.

There's an app called clock sync in the market. Don't know if it will help you. Can give it a try.

You can set the time and date manually under settings to see if that corrects the issue. You can also try to re-activate and update your PRL. Dial *228.

I've fixed the date and clock part. For some reason it wasn't set to automatic date/time updates in the settings. So I turned that back on and it sorted that much. The bigger problem I have now is that I still can't get to any of my text messages. After updating the date/time, I turned it off and back on again, and t's the same. It shows me as having a lot of texts, but I can't see any of them. Going to the inbox just shows the last texts I sent before my phone started acting funny.

You may have to do a factory reset.

FWIW: I would try a cache wipe first otherwise can lose texts from data wipe. Also try a hard reset. In your case you said you powered it down then back on, if your not rooted just pull the battery with the phone on, wait 15 seconds, then turn it back on. Do you receive calls? Also have you tried a secondary PC app to see if the texts are received there (like on my Verizon or any number or third-party apps/PC applications). Just to make sure its a phone issue and not something with Verizon's service
