Hi, earlier this week my service provider started pushing the OTA update for the milestone x, when it prompted me to download I downloaded and then hit install now, when the phone rebooted, it started to open the update package and then this appeared:

Assert failed: apply_patch_check(“/system/app/AccountAndSyncSettings.pak”,”a61a045cd00f132f7e454 461a00051075db27a55”,”58a84094cadc29b3ffce88a90d80 34ab055eacd”)
E:Error in /cache/Blur_Version.3.1.40.MB809.ACG.en.US.zip
(Status 7)
Instalation Aborted

25865

I think the error is because the file is not found, but when I use a root explorer the file is there, both the ".apk" and ".odex", but the Account and Sync Settings won't show up in the settings menu nor the applications list. When I try hitting install it says "Application not Installed", I don't know what else to do.

I would really appreciate any help I can get.

P.S. The phone is a refurbished, I got it in a warranty change last week. I don't have a sbf because for my milestone nor my service provider there isn't one available.

Its because you are rooted. If you want the update then you should sbf. What's your carrier?

Actually every time I try the update my phone has been un-rooted, my carrier is Open Mobile.

But if you previously rooted prior to the update it'll fail.
If you removed any files flashed any rom's ect.

Ok, so...
I found a generic sbf of froyo 2.2.1(SHADO_X6_3.1.39_SHADOW_BP_C_02.06.00R_AP_BP_ Flex_1E_signed_secure_dist_1ff_P3_USERBLD.sbf) will it work on mine?

System Version is: 3.1.40.MB809.ACG.en.US
Baseband: BP_C_02.06.00R
Kernel: 2.6.32.9-gace4441qgd748@il93lnxdroid09 #1
Build: Retail

But of you do that you'll have to flash back to your carrier.
I believe. I'm not very confident in that since its a milestone

By flashing back to carrier you mean activating it? Because when I do a factory reset, I loose activation and gain it again by dialing *228.

You need the milestone sbf file. Google it should be the first few links

The one I've got is from here (https://sites.google.com/site/motosbf/milestone-x-sbf-files) Milestone X North America Generic, sorry if I'm a pain I'm fairly new to all of this and I want to be sure before I do something to the phone.

To update this thread and since I made it a lot of people have seen it and are maybe looking for answers here is what I did; I risk myself and went ahead and used the Generic North America sbf file for the Milestone X from the link of my last post; to flash it I used an ubuntu live cd cause is a lot easier than fighting the computer to accept the drivers. After flashing the sbf my phone rebooted and it had preserved everything, when I say everything I mean apps, radio absolutely everything I even thought that the flash had failed and din't change anything so I hit the system update and it downloaded Froyo 2.2.2 version 3.1.6 and it updated successfully. It booted up and a message appeared saying that the phone was updated, so I then did the system update again and downloaded and install the GB 2.3 update now I finally have installed Gingerbread in my phone.

If you are going to try this remember to first verify that you have the correct files corresponding to your phone, carrier and or version. I recommend Ubuntu Live CD because I had many issues with drivers, and Ubuntu doesn't require drivers. I'm not responsible for any damage to your phone when trying the above mention.

For a guide on how to flash, use the Droid X flashing guide in this forum.
