Hi, several weeks ago when i turned on the X, the screen just showed a number of horizontal, very thin, flickering lines on it, but appeared to be booting up as i heard the normal sounds. i pulled the battery and the screen worked fine. happened one other time. now it happens all the time. searched the site, but could not find a similar thread.

did not drop or mishandle the device and it is almost two years old. does anyone know about the problem, possible solutions, etc

thanks in advance.

How old is the phone? You can either take it into Verizon and tell them. Wait for the upgrade. Or do something that will make you loose everything on your phone and maybe fix the problem

No no no no no you will keep everything on the sd card haha. You will just loose everything on the phone memory i.e apps email settings. But you can go back in and put them all back on the phone.

(http://www.droidxforums.com/forum/droid-x-sbf/23638-linux-solution-your-windows-rsd-lite-problems.html)go there follow and follow the directions, its by far the easiest way to do this.
This is the method i was suggesting that maybe fix the problem. (assuming its software not a hardware problem)

If you have any questions ask, ill be glad to help.

well, the latest. i concluded my lcd screen was bad, so bought another one and just finished the install. when i turn the phone on, i get the motorola "M" ball, but it does not seem to go through the boot up process. any ideas on causes, or errors made in putting together the phone after replacing the lcd. far as i can tell, all the ribbon cables are connected correctly, but you never know.\

thanks in advance

hi, well i tried both rsd lite and the linux process, and in both cases it appears that the PC does not recognize the phone. i have loaded the motorola drivers. i put the phone in bootloader mode successfully by holding down the camera, lower volume and power button until the dx flashed. then it shows

Bootloader
30.04

Battery OK
OK to Program
Connect USB
Data Cable

when i connect the cable,

Connect USB changes to "Transfer Mode:" and
Data Cable changes to "USB"

but when i turn on rsd lite, it does not see the phone

any help is appreciated.
