What is the best cheap tablet to root? Other than the nook or some e-reader.

150 or less. I can get a nook tablet but if I can get an actual android tablet that would be better.

Maybe a viewsonic gtab or a generic brand android tab from china. Check out Android Tablet Forum (http://www.androidtablets.net/)

Is the nook one of the best once it's rooted?

The nook has a good dev scene but its specs are pretty weak compared to the kindle fire or other 7" tabs.

Not under 150, but..

I saw a grab 16gb on clearance for $301, and a xoom Wi-Fi for $360 at OfficeMax today. They revise the prices weekly on clearance items I'm told. Hold out for next Gen tabs to arrive. The older ones will go cheap.

And check your local Craigslist. Ya never know...

I think it was the kindle fire refurbs that were going for 130 on Amazon the other day normally go for 170 and you get the 1 year warranty just like the new ones

What? The nook tablet is much better than the fire in terms of hardware

The Nook Tablet and the Kindle Fire both have almost the exact same specs. Both have a TI 4xxx series dual core processor with a PowerVR SGX540 graphics unit. The original Nook Tablet (16GB), the one released on November '11 had 1GB of memory and was procedure at $250. There was an 8GB version that was released this year and it features les storage and less memory 512MB instead of 1GB. Priced at $200 to compete with the Fire.

The Fire has 512MB of memory and both tabs have a 1024x600 pixel display at 169ppi.

But the Kindle Fire does have a better dev scene.

I got 3 nook colors for my kids for Christmas (on sale at Target for 170 at the time). First thing I did was rip the B&N OS off and installed Miui. The kids play games, watch Netflix, and ripped dvds. The nooks hold up great (kids are 9, 8, and 5 so you know they take a beating - the tablets do at least). ;-)

You will want a second sdcard though for removing the stock OS (or to run a rom off of and leave stock on the nook).

Just my 2.

I have heard that many kids use the Nook or Kindle tablets. And iPads too, but this is a DROID X forum not Apple forum

Could you direct me to a GOOD root source (out of the thousands) for Nook Color?
