Today heralds the launch of the SwiftKey 3 Beta (http://vip.swiftkey.net/index.php?/topic/3375-swiftkey-3-beta-download-phone/) – the latest version of our multi-award winning Android keyboard that we’ve been working flat out on for the last six months. Only three days ago as an April Fools’ prank, we jested that we’d reinvented the keyboard again. Thing is, this time we really have.

Not only do we actually have a larger spacebar with improved typing UI for you (as requested by so many users) but SwiftKey 3 is also the most advanced touchscreen keyboard the world has to offer.

We’ve cracked one of the hardest problems that exists in text entry – how to correctly determine when a user has missed spaces. With our new Smart Space technology, SwiftKey 3 figures out when you’ve missed spaces (or maybe hit a letter instead) across long strings of sloppy text. So you can type “Lleasexqllme” and SwiftKey 3 will know you mean “Please call me”. Or perhaps you type “Swidykeuvroxla”, where in fact you mean “SwiftKey rocks”. It makes typing much, much easier. You can even type a whole sentence out without hitting space once.

There are too many other innovations and improvements in SwiftKey 3 to detail here, but notable highlights include two new beautiful themes, support for the Android backup service (so you’ll never lose learned phrases again), and support for seven new languages, including Korean and Persian (Farsi).

To get SwiftKey 3 Beta, head over to our VIP community and get the phone version (http://vip.swiftkey.net/index.php?/topic/3375-swiftkey-3-beta-download-phone/) or the tablet build (http://vip.swiftkey.net/index.php?/topic/3376-swiftkey-3-tablet-beta-download/). There you’ll find APKs and a whole community of other users to discuss the new features with and give feedback. Please check it out and let us know what you think.

Oh yeah. I like this app already. The auto correct kinda sucks but hey it wont take long to fix my sucky texting skills.

Yes it is. LOL

BHuber: Make sure you let it learn from all the sources. And it will get smarter. I have had situations where I could type full sentences by typing the first word and it predicts everything else.

When I was on gummy 9.0 the only keyboard to work in landscape mode was the android one. Swiftkey would work but the text field was all messed up. Im on build 3-30 and this beta 3 works great. Beta 3 is a whole lot easier to type on. What font are you using May?

Forgot to ask, was swiftkeyx working before you installed the beta?

Yes swiftkeyx was working. I did uninstall that version but it didn't solve the issue. When I long press on a text field to bring up the keyboard option list...I see swiftkey 3 in the menu and when I select it, the menu disappears but swiftkey does not activate.

Did you go into system settings and set up beta 3. If your trying to set it from the text field I don't think it will work until you set it up in settings.

When I get to the "set swiftkey as default" step of the initial setup process, I get the same behavior. Which is, I press the button and the menu pops up with android and swiftkey in the menu, I press swiftkey and the menu disappears but the android keyboard persists.

Oh my goodness. I have been a devout SwiftKey x user since I first found it. I absolutely love it. It sped my texting up greatly. Now that I have this installed and am trying it out it has sped my texting another two fold at least. This keyboard is insane and I will be buying it as soon as it's released. GREAT JOB SWIFTKEY TEAM. I truly hope someone offers you guys a few truckloads of cash and implements this in future android os's as the new stock keyboard.
