Found this over at Rootz. Hopefully I'm not too late.

I saw this to I have full stock setup as I didn't use the root keeper. The root method doesn't work and the sbf file in the download is for the milestone which correct me if im wrong is a gsm phone therefore wont work on a cdma DROIDX

I read of lots of people using it and having success. I tried it myself yesterday and it worked like a charm and I was able to flash a gingerbread rom for DX over it despite it being .604 and Milestone X. I now have Steel Droid X's newest release instead of the barely-functioning .621.

HOWEVER, you MUST use the Linux or Mac method for SBFing because otherwise it changes the radio which gives you a brick.

If there are any questions, feel free to ask and I'll help as I'm able!

Right, well its not unbrickable if you SBF on RSD, but you'll lose your data until you re-sbf to .621 using RSD and call VZW to work their magic on their end, have to re-enable data or reauthorize or reprovision or whatever they call it :P

This is a .621 thread but I want to ask and make sure, what is your current system version? On the phone Settings --> about phone.
If you are indeed on .621 here you go:

http://www.droidxforums.com/forum/droid-x-hacks/47718-how-root-4-5-621-magic-md5-does-not-require-milestone-sbf.html (http://www.droidxforums.com/forum/droid-x-hacks/47718-how-root-4-5-621-magic-md5-does-not-require-milestone-sbf.html)

Download the .iso file, burn it to a disc, boot your computer from the disc and follow the onscreen instructions and you are rooted my friend. :)

Nothing bad will happen to your phone if it doesn't work the first time, you just wont be rooted lol so you will be ok. Good luck.
