View Full Version : Proximity sensor part (rubber cover) or repair.

The gasket / cover over my proximity sensor is gone. I've found none for sale without a phone attached. It's a small (rubber?) part, above the screen, juat to the right of the speaker.Without it light doesn't have to exit the phone to bounce off a face or finger... it just bounces around inside the phone and triggers proximity response.Thoughts of fashioning tubes from electrical tape to make stray light (not bounced off a nearby surface exterior to the phone) seem hopeful. Another user used cardstock (index card) and made it work. I have only that info and a couple fuzzy pictures to work from. Since the two (TX and RX) are next to each other, the light just bounces off stuff in the phone and hits the RX... and poof. Out go the lights.Does anyone know where i can find this peice? http://a3.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash4/428670_165339560246132_696764876_n.jpg http://a5.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash4/427527_165339573579464_100003102683985_240065_1121 701349_n.jpg Erbid

Take a look at this (looks like more than you want in the above pics which I didn't see till I was on my comp haha) http://www.globaldirectparts.com/Motorola-Droid-X-MB810-Light-filtering-Cover-p/mot1035657.htm

Edit: if you dont think that will work maybe buying a broken phone off ebay or craigslist will do?
