I thought I rooted my phone using Z4root. I went through the whole process and my phone restarted after the root like it was supposed to. I downloaded Tiitanium backup but its telling me its not recognizing the root. so i guess the real question is how do i know if my phone is rooted or not? I also clicked on the Z4root to try re-running the program but nothing happens.

What system version are you on? You can also download the free "Root Checker" app from the Market that will confirm if you have root access or not.

What is your system version.? Go in settings > about phone and see what your system version is. Z4root only works on froyo. If your on gingerbread use the d3 one click root.
Edit.. Wow talk about getting Ninja'd. Haha...

thanks for all the responses. I downloaded the "root checker" which told me that i didnt have root access. so therefore I'm going to assume im running gingerbread? My system version reads 1.3.380.MB870.Verizon...... and android version 2.3.4 whatever those numbers mean. What would be my next step in getting this thing rooted?

Yes, you are Gingerbread, follow the link in my post above you to root, you will need a computer to root Gingerbread, there is no stand alone app that roots Gingerbread.

thanks for everyone's response. So i ran the "root checker" app and it tells me i have no root access. so i guess that means im either running gingerbread or the Z4root didnt install correctly. But either way my System Version reads. 1.3.380.MB870.verizon.en.us and my android version is 2.3.4 can anyone help me out with what that means and what my next step in rooting this thing would be?

You need to root with d3 method .. the link is in the above post... what you do is download it to your PC extract the file hook phone up to the PC and hit run... few minor things I left out but all the instrux are in that link
