No to 1% (at least what I can figure) i use simmons battery monitor for the 1%. dsp manager seems to be working. Carpetman, hopefully bk or someone will chime in, but I do believe you have to be on 602 or 605.

I couldn't get the market or gmail. It said "No Connection, retry?" I just wiped cache and when I enabled wifi I got "error". I seem to recall having the same issues with 3.1. I rebooted again, still getting "error when I try to connect. Yes I had my settings to never sleep.

Edit: I tried to put it in airplane mode and it won't go into airplane mode either.

It all works fine on 3g. I just wiped cache and dalvik and reflashed. I can get it into airplane mode now, but still get "error" when I try to turn on wifi. It won't even turn on.

Got that done, along with 3g connection, with battery pull. Gonna recalibrate and see what's up. Only other issue so far is when unlocking screen on launcher pro (which 3.2 comes with) black screen appears with dock icons showing. Have to hit home button to get to home screen. Will wipe cache and dalvik in a bit. This rom is really fast though.

I am running this on my X...issues that I am seeing - themes are not sticking on reboot, cannot edit / change some of the text color in the pull down, cannot change keyboards from the stock installed keyboard.

I think that is all for now.

Got swift key to stick by simple reboot. BK mentioned in another post with someone who had wifi issue to reboot while in wifi setting. That might work while in swift key, or a battery pull while in whatever key board you're trying to install.

I did try this before I gave up and restored my nandroid. I don't understand why some people have issues while others don't. I wiped data, cache and dalvik before I flashed. I read through some 3.1 threads and some people has the same issues, and again others did not. Strange.....

Edit: I just did an sbf and flashed again. All seems to be good now. :)

Corki, I've been chatting with someone who apparently had to restore 3.1 just to get swiftkey working. You are right, it is strange how some have issues and some don't. As far as roms are concerned, liquid has kicked my butt more than any other rom I've flashed. Smalltown. you da man (WOman) that is. If anyone can figure things out it's you!

I'm still trying to figure out why I get a black screen with my dock showing every time I unlock my phone. Some data connections problems as well. Beyond that, no issues

602 or 605. You might as well just go with 605 since you're on froyo right now. Back that up before you flash this.

I flashed this Liquid ROM two days ago, coming from MIUI 1.9.22....just wiped cache and data...and everything's been working great...
Except for having market connectivity problems just once, which seemed to be fine after a reboot...
Overall, great, fast, smooth ROM!

Is there a ClockRemovalMod for this ROM? I haven't found one yet...

I wiped everything and flashed this from VorteX RC1 to this. The market had no issues connecting after a reboot from the initial boot after flashing. My issue is that i keep getting is Android.process.media (? iirc) force closes every few minutes & Torch app never works. I miss 3.0...had no issues back then except for the infamous 2nd-init battery life. Lol!

Hey all, well finally made it out to Colorado and getting settled in, which means I finally have some time to get back on here. Sad to see I'm not the only one with issues with this rom. Hate it because I ran Liquid 2.4 for a couple of months before it started to get really glitchy on me. Never stuck with one rom that long since I started flashing! I think maybe my phone just doesn't want to play well with Liquid smooth. I did a fresh install with all the wipes a few times and there's always several things that are too disagreeable for me. This last time, TiBu will not do a batch restore for me. It pops up that it's starting, but never makes any progress. I had to go through and restore one at a time to get it to work (before you ask, yes I have the pro version). Sometimes the camera will tell me I need to insert an sd card first. Sometimes a reboot fixes it, sometimes not. And I continually get force closes of all kinds of things, sorry can't remember exactly now, but they are system things. Anyway, getting ready to sbf again and maybe just stick with stock rooted GB for awhile.

A suggestion for people with keyboard issues: what I've found to work reliably for my phone is to restore your keyboard of choice as soon as you get set back up, before you do anything else. Then go into settings, keyboard, select the ONE that you use, then hit home, then anything to bring up a place to long press for input method, choose, and good to go. I've noticed on the 2nd-init roms that I could only get it to work if I select the one in keyboard settings. If I tried to pick more, it either wouldn't let me or they wouldn't take for the input method part.

Sorry, if it's confusing, trying to hurry and finish this before she finishes dinner. Lol.

Anyway, good to be back. -Cameron

Edit: Sorry, like I said, in a hurry. This was supposed to go in the 3.1 thread, not this one. If a mod could move it for me, I'd be very thankful. Sorry again. Oops.

That's what I thought. But phone just automatically rebooted. Didn't realize reboot prompt had to be enabled in liquid settings for recovery option. All good now. Thanks pop.

Ok, I tried the stock rooted .602. Apparently, Liquid has spoiled me. I can't believe how slow and laggy it was. Also, I couldn't get the Supercharger script to work on it, had to factory reset both times I tried it. Couldn't deal with it more than a day. Lol. Anyway, just flashed it. Wifi hooked up just fine for me. Turned on the camcorder without actually recording and it looked fine to me. Not sure if the autofocus issue is only after you start recording or not. Restoring with Tibu now. I'll post back in the morning after I play with it later tonight and let you know what I find out. From the first couple of minutes it seemed great, as I expected, though.

I've been running this ROM for a couple of days now, and overall, it hasn't been a bad experience, but I am still having wifi issues...I DID NOT sbf, so that may be my problem...

I am going to do a complete sbf and go from there...I will report back if all goes well...

Well, here's a funny story for you. So last night, I finish restoring, then go to play around with it. First of all, I was unable to restore settings for Launcher pro. Had to manually put it back together, except for the docks. They came back, but nothing else. Then I was messing around with some stuff in the notification bar. Hit torch, didn't work, but put the icon up there and said it was on. So, I did a reboot to get rid of it. Oops! For the next 15 minutes or so, that's all it did was constantly reboot itself and freeze so bad I had to do several battery pulls. Then, it just quit and went back to working perfectly. Doing fine this morning still. Dare you to figure any logic to that quirk! Lol! Anyway, that's the latest update from me on it.

Tried this twice now, with the same result both times: sbf'd with 602, then full wipe/cache clear/dalvik cache clear, then install Liquid 3.2. As soon as the setup screen appears on first boot, the phone process force closes and from then on the phone is unusable to make or receive calls. Otherwise it's a great ROM, but no phone calls is kind of a deal breaker :P Any ideas on how to fix/troubleshoot?

Thanks,

Ok, am I the only one with the constant reboot issue? Or, better yet, anyone have any suggestions on how to straighten it out or troubleshoot it? I rebooted my phone because I lost data connection, that was fifteen minutes ago, and it is still rebooting on its own. It does it when I try to go to the market, or if I leave it alone, it does it. While I've got down time, it's not really a dealbreaker, but it will definitely be when I get back to work. I will need it to be reliable and right now it is until I have to do a reboot, then it's totally useless for 20-30 minutes. What gives? Sorry, venting. Just frustrating not knowing what's wrong or how to fix it. Theories and thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Edit: Also, whenever it is on for a half minute in between boots, everything force closes, I mean everything! System force closes, Widgitlocker, market. Anything I try to touch on it. I think I'll try to reflash the rom again and see if that does anything. If I can get to Clockwork in between reboots, that is.

milski65
11-23-2011, 06:40 PM
I've not seen anyone mention the reboot issue. I lost data a couple of times and a battery pull or reboot took care of that. You may want to try wiping cache and dalvik and see what that does, or do same and then reflash.

Well, it made it almost five minutes before it rebooted itself this time. If it keeps it up, I'm done with it and going elsewhere. I'm just tired of not being able to use my phone because of this. And again, Process system is not responding: FC or wait. What is causing this so much and how do I fix it? Rebooted before I could even finish typing the last sentence. What the ....?

Edit: Ok, I haven't been able to do anything but watch the boot animation on my phone for the last 45 minutes or so. Granted, it is really cool to watch and all, but I'm done. Screw this rom, I'm going home. It's either froze up, or rebooting. Either way, I'm done. Sad to go, I love the Liquid roms, but this one is to jacked up to be usable let alone reliable. Anyone know why it is that different phones have different issues with the same software on them? Been curious about that for awhile, just never remember to ask on here.

All liquid versions I've flashed have given me issues. No other rom has to date. I went back to Vortex rc1. I can feel your pain. It's a damn fast rom, but the problems it causes the X (variable for each user) are too much too deal with.

I'd sbf if I were you and flash vortex. I assure you it's not leggy, has NO issues, and has been completely reliable. I compare it to dsx, which most people think is an old rom but I never had a single issue with it. Those 2 roms stay on my primary phone only.

I tried ssx. Caused me to lose data connection and email. I loved how it looked, and would have kept it. It's a nandroid on my backup X, along with 3.2. Go figure.

So does anyone want to spoon feed me what all the super charger stuff does and if any save's battery? I know its supposed to manage memory, but I love the powerboost script because it let's me choose the stronger conservative governor that he customized himself.

And does anyone know if the new powerboost supports 3.2? And does it interfere with the latest jakebites?

And what about gapps force closing? Market does a little, but the torch does not work at all (atleast with what ever im doing) ...

And kind of a dumb Q, does metamorph work on this? I like to theme EVERYTHING a dark blue (I know, this ROM is already themes blue but I'm kind of picky when it comes to modding haha)

Did you enable Swype in the settings/ language and keyboard? If you didn't do that it's not going to show up when you long press to change input method. But
I've had Swype going on every ROM pretty much. I can't use the normal keyboard anymore. But on the roms that have it pre installed, there are directions to get the stock one out of there so you can install Swype beta from there web site. Other then that. What i wood try is uninstall your Swype, and the Swype installer. and run the installer again like you never had Swype installed before. See if one of these things works.

Well, I went to Vortex RC1 for awhile. It was ok, just seemed really slow and it would lag occasionally. So, I did multiple wipes of everything, and tried this one again on a fresh install and new download of it. Works great until the first time you have to reboot, then that's all it will do. The short times in between rebooting itself, everything from system to launcher to apps all force close. So, for my phone for whatever reason, this rom is completely unusable. Which is really odd, because I've run every version of Liquid and other than the small bugs in it, they all worked fine until this one. Hate saying anything bad about Liquid, it's been one of my favorite GB roms by far, but no dice on this one.

Edit: Ok, wiped cache and Dalvik, then reflashed, and I'm back up again. Is this going to be a constant issue, though, I've seen a few posts about losing data connection in this thread. Just wondering. Thanks. I'll check back later for an answer.

However, too much difficulty keeping any data connection, and constant locking up of my phone. I've tried a lot for this rom, but just isn't going to work for me I guess. I just wanted to throw this out there..

It seems that we have two camera/camcorder problems. Touch zoom freezes and HD recording does not auto-focus.

Its not the Blur people want but it works

RevNumbers --- Camera.apk (http://www.mediafire.com/?cajq47up6uxq4ru)

download Revs 11/5 camera.apk

Mount system read/write and remove the current camera.apk

copy the downloaded Camera.apk to /system

Install via Rom Toolbox/ Root Browser

Camera touch Zoom works...720p video works

no cam freezes or auto focus issues after this process

Let me know what you guys think

Because I've tried to fresh install this new rom 5 times and each time it doesn't work. These roms are nice but every new one that comes out has at least one HUGE issue.

Things that need fixed:

Inability to utilize WiFI connectivity.
Camera unable to connect to SD card, which is addressed above, download the camera.apk (http://www.mediafire.com/?cajq47up6uxq4ru) file.
nothing else yet. Connecting to a computer via usb is still a bit iffy as well.

Hello, smart people! I'm running Liquid 2.6 (on GB .596) and would like to try bumping up to Liquid 3.2. Is this upgrade as simple as placing the zip file, rebooting into recovery, wiping cache, and then installing from the zip...or are there more steps (SBF, kernel upgrade, etc.) involved since I'm coming from an older version? I appreciate the help, thanks!

You would need to sbf 602 then you can take the ota to get you on 605 then root that with the d3 one click root. This link has everything you need. http://www.droidxforums.com/forum/gingerbread-development-hacking/35634-gb-602-root-start-here-links-all.html sbf using the 602 iso in that link. Okay, all is good so far. I've SBF'd to .602, then ota'd to .605, then successfully rooted with the D3 method. I thought I might as well grab a clean ROM backup while I was at this point, so I installed ROM Manager and am trying to run a backup...but it's not working. It grabs superuser permissions and prompts me for the filename, then reboots. At that point it just plain reboots, though, and no backup is taken. I know in previous upgrades I've had to install and run a bootstrapper in the past, but I'm not sure if that's necessary (or which bootstrapper to use with the new version of GB). Got any ideas?

savagerun
12-31-2011, 02:14 PM
Just use Droid 2 bootstrap. You can use it to make a backup and install a rom. To make a backup using Droid 2 bootstrap just open the bootstrap app and press bootstrap recovery then when it says success press ok then press reboot recovery. Once in recovery scroll down to backup and restore with your volume button and select it with your camera button. Then you'll get more options and just select backup. When its done backing up just select reboot system.
Edit... By the way you need to run the bootstrap app for rom manager to work anyway but i find it best just to use Droid 2 bootstrap to initially make a backup and install a rom.

Your welcome and Happy New Year to you also. One last thing if you do install liquid do not use your bootstrap app while on it because it's a 2nd init rom and uses a different recovery. You can install liquid using it but after that don't use it. If you need to get in clockwork recovery on liquid just press your power button and you'll have that option in the menu.

Once I got that, I hit the link to download the installer again, and once that was installed it pulled down the most recent version of Swype, which appears to be working fine. Hope you got it to work one way or another.

Okay, now I appear to be having the wifi issue that others have mentioned. When I turn wifi on, it waits for about 1.5 seconds, then automatically turns off. I didn't see a resolution on this thread, but does anyone know how to get this operational? I've done two fresh SBF/upgrade processes that included wiping cache/factory settings, so I'm pretty sure I've come from a clean slate. I LOVE everything else about Liquid 3.2, but no wifi may be a deal-breaker.

Edit: hm...it appears the GPS is dead, too. Any thoughts, anyone?E

Edit #2: I rebooted into recovery, wiped cache and Dalvik cache, and tried again. Now the GPS appears to be working, and the wifi stays on. However, when I try to connect to my home network, it drops off after a second or two (once it connects, it keeps scanning, and then it disconnects). I logged into my router and saw that my phone was briefly hitting it, but all the router log showed was the transfer of an IP address, nothing useful for troubleshooting. Does anyone know of a log file on the phone somewhere that might indicate why it keeps dropping off of my wireless network (yes, I've double checked the password, and yes, the wireless network is functional right now).

I'm out of guesses at this point, so I'm hoping someone else can help me out.

Hm. It gets curiouser and curiouser...

I've been tinkering throughout the day, and if there is any generalization I can make, it's that between wifi, GPS, and airplane mode, one of them (occasionally two, but never all three) will work at any given time, but every time I reboot a different combination starts working. Go figure.

Help anyone?

Your welcome and Happy New Year to you also. One last thing if you do install liquid do not use your bootstrap app while on it because it's a 2nd init rom and uses a different recovery. You can install liquid using it but after that don't use it. If you need to get in clockwork recovery on liquid just press your power button and you'll have that option in the menu.

So what would the consequences be if one were to run D2 Bootstrapper on a 2nd init ROM? I read that it would break 2nd init somewhere, can't remember where now, but I'm still trying to grasp the actual realized consequences from doing this.

Also, what could be done to fix it?

+1, only if you reboot and don't re-flash the 2nd-INIT version.

Always read and go by what is said in the OP (original post) when it comes to modding your phone, otherwise, prepare to do a full recovery....

I read the instructions several times, as with all guides here as they're very idiot proof if they're actually followed. OP didn't say anything about this, but now it's out there.

I thought I had booted into recovery using bootstrap after flashing the ROM, but I guess I only did once because know for a fact I re-flashed one time. If only I was always this lucky...

Can't get it to work. I've repeated the entire process from SBF to full installation three times now (with lots of cache/data/Dalvik wiping along the way), and it's just not coming together. I don't know what the problem is, but Liquid is clearly not the ROM for me. Too bad...I really liked it. Moving on...

Not sure about gunner1982, but I did verify the md5 on my download, wiped cache/data/Dalvik multiple times before and after each step in the installation, and Liquid still wouldn't stabilize for me. I wouldn't call it garbage - it offers a ton of customization and a very smooth interface. It just didn't work on my phone for some strange reason that I could never figure out. My loss.

I'm now running Liberty 3, and it's also great. Many of the same customizations as Liquid (though not quite as many, from what I can tell) and very stable. It's a bit slow to boot and mount the sdcard, but otherwise I haven't noticed any problems at all. I've thought about trying Vortex and Apex, but I'll have to wait until a free weekend before trying another new ROM. You know, just in case... ;)

Regardless, I'm reluctant to talk down any ROM or developer much - I think it's a great thing about the Android community that we can utilize the exceptional talents of so many people, and often for free. Awesome stuff, especially given that pretty much all of these ROMs are better than the bloated carrier versions. If we didn't care about customization or freedom or control of our own devices, we'd all just go buy iPhones. Thus, I have great respect for all of these developers, and have no problem shelling out a couple bucks for great apps - it's a small symbol of big gratitude, and it keeps all this development moving forward! On behalf of all non-programmers out there, I say kudos to ROM developers, and keep up the good work!

Yeah, it's definitely not garbage. Calling it garbage because you can't get it installed is not right. But, it doesn't work correctly and that is frustrating. I've installed multiple times (with SBF first) and every time I run into wifi/3g issues. The only question is, what do you do with a product that breaks and the only person who can work on it, has stopped supporting it? Throw it away and get something else!

Now, I'm just assuming the support has stopped for this ROM, but I hope I'm wrong. This has the potential to be the best, but the wifi issues need to be resolved. Unless anybody has any solutions?

im going to assume that you are using a droid x and if you are, with my milestone, after mine went to bootloop, I had to do a SBF then reflash the working sbf, then do the process for flashing. This is what I used, but its for ntelos...

Installing a Custom Rom on your nTelos Milestone (Droid) X
As always, I am not responsible if your device breaks.
Requirements: Make sure you are on the latest 2.3.5 Gingerbread build.
Also you can get the nTelos 2.3.5 sbf file from here: http://www.droidxforums.com/forum/milestone-x-support/40938-dire-need-sbf-2-3-5-ntelos-5.html.

Installing the Rom
A. Download the rom
a. For miui download the zip from this link: http://roms.miui.us/shadow/MIUI.us_Shadow_2012-01-08-Wizard0f0s.zip
(The main forum is [ROM] MIUI.us DefX 2012.2.1 - Bootmenu Update, 1% Battery, and No Charge LED (http://forums.miui.us/showthread.php?12643-ROM-MIUI-us-DefX-2012-1-8))
b. For liquid Gingerbread download this zip: http://api.viglink.com/api/click?format=go&key=df151685658191b4520187383cbc1752&loc=http%3A%2F%2Fliquidsmoothroms.com%2Fnode%2F73&v=1&libid=1327523835164&out=http%3A%2F%2Fbit.ly%2Fpgjh9B&ref=http%3A%2F%2Fliquidsmoothroms.com%2Fnode%2F1&title=Motorola%20Droid%20X%20(Verizon)%20Smartphon e%20%7C%20Liquid%20Smooth%20Roms&txt=DOWNLOAD%20NOW&jsonp=vglnk_jsonp_13275238425901
(the main webpage is Motorola Droid X (Verizon) Smartphone | Liquid Smooth Roms (http://liquidsmoothroms.com/node/73)
c. Don’t unzip it. Put the entire zip in a folder on your SD card. (So for the miui rom I have it under /miui/filename.zip on my sd card. It doesn’t matter what you name the folder. Just put it in a place where you can find it.)
B. Boot into recovery
a. Make sure you are rooted. (If you need help with this just let me know. I used superoneclick)
b. From your phone download “Droid 2 Recovery Bootstrap” from the android market. (https://market.android.com/details?id=com.koushikdutta.droid2.bootstrap&feature=search_result#?t=W251bGwsMSwxLDEsImNvbS5rb 3VzaGlrZHV0dGEuZHJvaWQyLmJvb3RzdHJhcCJd)
c. Launch the app and click the top button “bootstrap recovery”. If prompted allow it to have superuser privileges.
d. Click on “Reboot Recovery.” Your phone will now reboot into android recovery.
C. Flash the Rom from zip
a. From here most would recommend doing a nandroid backup which is basically a backup of your entire system.
i. Using the volume keys scroll down to “backup and restore.” Select it with the camera button.
ii. Select “backup.” This will take a few minutes but it will backup your entire system. Theoretically if you get messed up doing this process you can go to “restore” and get your old system back.
b. Using the volume keys to move up and down and the camera key to select, scroll down to “wipe data/factory reset” and select it. It will want you to confirm it so scroll down and hit “yes”.
c. Next scroll down to “wipe cache partition” and select it. Hit “yes” to confirm.
d. Now you are going to scroll down to “advanced” and select it.
e. Another menu will pop up. Scroll down to “Wipe Dalvik Cache” and select it. Hit “yes” to confirm.
f. Go back to the main menu (do this using the back button on your device).
g. Scroll down to “install zip from sdcard” and select it.
h. Select “choose zip from sdcard”
i. It will pull up a list of folders on your sd card. Scroll down to the folder with the .zip file we downloaded earlier and select it.
j. Select the zip file you downloaded earlier for your rom (either miui or liquid). Select “yes” when prompted.
k. It will now install the rom. It may take a few minutes. When it is done hit your back button until you get to the main recovery screen.
l. Select “reboot system now”.
m. Your phone will now reboot onto the new rom. It may take a few minutes the first time but it should work fine.
n. If it doesn’t get past the red ‘m’ after about 5 minutes then take out the battery and try again. If you still don’t have any luck you’ll have to sbf and try again.

Can you install swype on this? i have a droid x with 3.2 and i cant seem to get it to work

i installed it then i select it via keyboard settings and when i select swype it doesnt save and remains on android keyboard

UGH! Yes!! I'm having the same problem . . . which is how I found this thread. In fact, I'm having a *general* problem just getting liquid to remember ANY 'selection' I find I have to select something and then immediately reboot to get the ROM to remember anything (from enabling a keyboard to allowing non-market installations, to the whole WiFi issue) which is entirely frustrating. It's a shame, because I really do *love* this ROM otherwise. (In fact, my current Swype frustration is predicated on the fact that I had tried something else and hated it so much that I wound up SBFing and reinstalling liquid, but now I can't get Swype to work--and for the life of me can't remember what (if anything) I did to get it to work last time. The installation works just fine, it's only to the matter of going to "selecting my input method" and then it just forces back to android keyboard regardless.

Do I need to just wipe/factory restore and pray or is there something else I can do.

no need for a factory reset... just clear data for that app... under settings/applications/manage applications/
if that still doesn't work... uninstall swype and or the installer... and it'll work great

Just do a factory reset in stock recovery. Pull the battery out and put it back in. Then first press your home button and hold it in then press power button and hold both buttons in till you see a triangle on the screen. Then press both volume buttons in at the same time. That will get you in stock recovery. Scroll down to wipe data factory reset and select it with your power button and wipe cache partition also. Next just select reboot system.

To use a third party keyboard you need to enable IME Switcher in the ROM settings. Then the next time you touch any text box a keyboard icon will appear in the status bar. From there you will be able to choose your keyboard.
