View Full Version : Failure to update SU Binary after update (but still rooted)

This one is a bit strange. I've seen other cases on here were the SU binary couldn't be updated, and there was not root access on the phone. My issue is, my phone is absolutely rooted (verified several ways), but I can't update the SU binary. When I attempt (after getting the "SU binary is outdated" notification) to update, I get an error regarding the path for currently installed binary. In other words, my binary updater looks like this:

Downloading manifest...okay!
Parsing manifest...okay!
Latest Version = 3.0.3
Checking installed version = 2.3.1-ef
Fixing database...okay!
Checking for busybox...okay!
Checking current install path...fail!
Failed to find currently installed su binary.
Update cannot continue

I haven't had any issues with this up to now, and I think there was an update applied earlier today through the market. I'm not that concerned because I do have root, but it's strange that the binary is M.I.A. Any thoughts folks?

Anytime I've received a fail, I retried and was successful.

I wish I could say that. I've tried a few times, keep getting the error.

Think it could have anything to do with the mount_ext3.sh mod that P3Droid mentioned for maintaining root through updates? I wouldn't think so, but...

It could very well.
