What is Visual Voicemail, and how do you use it?



When you first select Voicemail application, you will be given a choice to tap Call Voicemail button to access voicemails as normail cellphone on the network and also a Sign up for Visual Voicemail option button. After you sign up for Visual voicemail, you will log into visual voicemail features every time you access your voicemail until you unsubscribe from the feature.
Visual voicemail is normal voicemail PLUS a ton of additional features.
Access Visual Voicemail
Tap the Voicemail application http://motorola-global-eng.custhelp.com/rnt/rnw/img/enduser/droidxvoicemailapplicationicon.jpg from your homescreen or within the Applications tray to access your Visual voicemail feature.
When you have a new voicemail, a voicemail icon http://motorola-global-eng.custhelp.com/rnt/rnw/img/enduser/droidxvoicemailicon.jpg shows at the top of your screen. Pull down notification tray and tap on New Voicemail to view your voicemails.

Tap on the Voicemail notification to bring up the most urgent voicemail message via a contact screen. If you have the number in your contact lists, and the contact has a photo associated, your personalized Caller ID photo will apply to the screen for instant recognition. Unknown numbers will display an empty contact screen along with the phone number.

Cycle forward and back through your voicemail messages by tapping either directional << or >> arrow button. Fast forward through message by holding down right arrow button >>.
Press Play button > in middle to play voicemail audio. Pause button will appear as voicemail is being played, tap on pause button | | to pause message.
Press Call back to place direct call out to contact.
Press Speaker to place call on speakerphone.
Press Delete to Delete voicemail message

Tap Menu hard key at voicemail contact screen for additional options:

Tap REPLY to respond via multiple methods:


Voicemail - Send back a recorded message to contact
Text Message
Email


Tap FORWARD to forward message


Voicemail - Forward the message with recorded intro as an attachment to other Verizon wireless customers
Text Message
Email


Tap ARCHIVE to save message to your SDcard.

Voicemail will be saved in location: sdcard/voicemails on you memory card.

If you press the Back button from a contact screen in Visual voicemail, you will see full voicemail menu. Thumbnails will be filled with photos if voicemail message contacts have images related to their sync'd contacts on the handset.

You can Sort messages, Select Multiple messages (to archive, delete, mark as heard), Compose (recorded voice message), access Settings menu (change voicemail ringtone notification or select vibrate mode for voicemail notifications..

Delete All Voicemails delete all voicemails in one action.
Logout logout of voicemail. Next voicemail access will require using voicemail password. Visual voicemail and standard voicemail have same password.
Unsubscribe unsubscribe from Visual Voicemail service.

For normal voicemail application instructions read below


To access voicemail through handset dialer, tap Phone, then tap and hold 1.
Verizon Voicemail access number from the handset is *86. It is not recommended to change number from *86
If you need to change your voicemail number, in the home screen press Menu > Settings > Call settings > Voicemail settings > Voicemail number.
Tip: When adding a password, you should enter a pause (or multiple pauses). To add a pause or wait, tap the *#( symbol key on the multitouch keyboard and Select Pause. (to change keyboard to multi-touch tap and hold inside text box and change input method)

I have a problem that I cannot hear the visual voicemail at all.
Not on speakerphone
Not on regular phone
Not on my regular headset

I Have purchased the voicemail option, it downloads them but when I hit play I hear nothing.

Any advice?
