I moved out of US with my DroidX, I got my phone working for some network called Reliance CDMA in India. However, I am not able to use backup assistant for this this network. I wish to get all my data back from verizon, but I am not sure how to do that.
On my phone, in front of backup assistant there is a tiny lock sign.
Pleas help me get my data back.
Thanks.

If you are just looking to get your contacts back, the easiest thing to do is to go to the vzw website and export your contacts into a csv file. Then you can go to google and import them into your google account. Then all you have to do is turn on auto-sync on your phone and your contacts will download from your google account. No need for backup assistant.

Nemo, I can not open the application. The moment I open, it tries to sync using old verizon info, after a while when it has not found any info application quits. I think Verizon info is not accessible since I am no longer on verizon network. And that was the reason I thought, rooting might help. Thoughts?
Daylight, yeah, I got my contacts from gmail back. I will try and get remaining as you told. Thanks. However, I was more concern about apps that I was using in US some of them do not work here in India. And I wanted to have those apps working with same old configuration.
When I logon to Market.android.com using my gmail, it still shows that my DroidX is with verizon network. and may be that is why I am not being able to access backup assistant.
Thank you both for trying to help me. Look forward to get more info.

Have you tried using it while connected to wifi?

Try the method I mentioned. It's much easier than it seems and all your contacts will be backed up on your Google account instead of with verizon. Google contacts are much more reliable and much more convient when you have to switch phones or if you have multiple android devices such as a tablet. You also need to backup your contacts to google if you want to use a pure Google based ROM such as MIUI, Liquid, CM7, ext.

Any time. Unfortunately the google app backup is not that reliable either... I recommend titanium backup. But only use titanium to backup and restore your user apps not your system apps
