Hello I'm a new member here and I've been lurking around the forums trying to figure out why this has happen. I just flashed to the 4.5.602 and rooted last night, and realized that my 3g speeds are incredibly low. I ran a speed test and had 47 kbps down/100 kbps up. I can barely download anything from the market or browse the web, why is this happening? My baseband version is .13P, I am fairly new to flashing and everything so have I done something wrong? Please help!

Thank you.

Wow. That's...slow. Are you a heavy user, normally? You might be getting throttled some from Big Red, but shouldn't be anywhere near that much. Have you tried pulling the battery and rebooting? I'm guessing that there's either some network traffic congestion in your area - OR - you've got something interfering with reception/transmission on the phone...

I'm a casual user I would say, at about 1.5gb/2gb so I've never went over my limit. Yes it is incredibly slow, this only had happen right after I flashed to .602, I've tried pulling the battery and rebooting, unless there is some special method to reboot it? I'm used to having fast speeds around my home but only after flashing was my speeds down to 47kbps.

Are you rooted? Might need to do a Delvik cache wipe...or a factory reset.

Just tried a Delvik Cache Wipe using Droid 2 Bootstrapper

54kbps download / 856kbps upload

Doesn't seem like any luck, if I were to do a factory reset, what version would I be on, would it go back to froyo and I have to reflash and reroot? or will it be a factory reset on the .602

You would still be on 602 and still be rooted.

Just factory resetted, and cleared my cache, still no luck, now my 3g is dropping constantly and getting low download speeds. Please help, it doesn't seem like anybody else is having network problems with .602

Okay so I tried clearing all the cache's, and factory resets, hell I even tried sbf-ing back to .340 and then back to .602 but still no luck, my speeds are 54kbps down/ 800 kbps up, something just doesn't seem right about these numbers, and my 3g is super slow, Please please please, I need someones help to fix this...This has been bothering me too long.

No luck sadly, sigh, I have no idea why this is happening..

I've even tried sbf-ing to to .596 instead to see if it was the version, but it wasn't. 17 kbps download / 914 kbps. Does this have to do with Verizon's service, are they limiting my 3g speeds? What is going on right now?

That's really strange. Call Verizon and see what they say...

I called Verizon and they said that the 3g in my area is perfectly fine and there should be nothing wrong with any of it. They also said they aren't throttling my speeds or have any alerts on my account, and told me to contact Motorola to see if they can help.

I contacted Motorola and after waiting on hold for 30 minutes they said that 3g is not their area, and I need to speak to my carrier about data coverage.

What is going on, will I need to switch phones because of this? It just doesn't seem to be cooperating with me. Should I just take the OTA update, would that fix all of this?

I'm wondering if you should do a factory reset...

I've already done a factory reset, a dalvic cache wipe, a cache wipe, a sbf to .340, a sbf to .596, to .602 and .605, and still my 3g speeds are under 100 kbps download.

As long as you're not rooted (and still under warranty), take it to the store for an exchange.

I am still under warranty, so if I unroot my phone, I can take it in to Verizon without them ever knowing I was rooting it?

Wipe cache/data and dalvik just to be sure. That will definitely keep you in the clear.

I'd SBF it to be ultra super mega safe though. That, however, as they say, is just me.

Speeds will vary depending on a number of factors, including the number of users hitting a tower at one time, file sizes being downloaded, etc. They can vary minute to minute, but, those speeds you posted are a bit low.

Any way to up them?

Nothing you can do, personally. If it's slow enough to make downloading or surfing on the phone terribly painful, you can always switch to your WiFi connection - assuming that you have or have access to a wireless network.

I thinks it's possible the radio hardware itself maybe defective its not always on the software side I'm having the same problems also not a heavy user usually 1 to 2 gigs a month my phone constantly drops service and when I do have 3g its really slow I'm currently waiting for a replacement.... My advice to you if a full sbf doesn't fix it go to VZW and have them look. Obviously make sure ur completely stock though and see if they can replace it

Depending on your area Verizon is testing the 4g LTE network and the connectivity is spotty. That's what's happening where I live.

I know this post is a month+ old, but I've been experiencing this as well. Someone I work with told me about the speedtest.net app, so I installed it. We're both on Verizon, he as the Droid1 and I have the X. He was getting average 1.7Mb DOWN and 1.1Mb up. My average is 20kbps DOWN and 1.1Mb up. So, same upload... but CRAP for download. I knew my network speed had been really crappy the past couple of months, but this just pissed me off. I called Verizon (thinking they were capping me)... they said they would see it if I was being capped... he said he thinks my radio is getting worn out. But, after reading this thread, I vaguely remember an update later this summer that updated the phone and not the OS. This is about when I started experiencing the INSANE network slowdown.

Is there a way to update or rollback the phone/radio portion? I'm not currently rooted, but more than willing to at this point. I'm out of warranty, so I have nothing to lose.

You can flash just the radio if you're rooted. Team black hat has the. 602 radio but I believe that's the one that is giving you problems. Try a forum or Google search for Tue previous one. When I flashed. 602 some time ago it gave me slow 3G speeds and I lost signal quite a bit.
