I have looked through this forum and several others. I am trying to change the notification bar color from the blue to black or smoke gray. I've already gone through and decompiled both framework.apk and and systemUI.apk and editing the status bar png. Everytime i get a force close and do a battery pull and nothing changes. I read that the notification bar color is located in the systemUI.apk under res and drawable. Am I missing something here?

just double checking... are you compiling and signing the apk properly?

i read over on a thread on xda that alot of people were trying to do mods to the status bar... some were successful... but some of them would disappear and or fc...

i believe overlooking the signing step was the number one cause of breaking the status bar

I am using Ninjamorph, so I believe the compiling and signing are taken care of already. I am a relative noob at this so I try to make it as simple as possible.

And yes it's the .9 png.

if its a .9.png you gotta do a little extra work instead of just changing the color :) To make sure it absolutely works 100% you should. Note this isn't always needed but its a good process to make sure your images work

1. make your png the same relative size as the one you are replacing
2. after creating the .9.png open up draw9patch.bat in the Android SDK tools folder and draw the guides
3. after saving the .9.png open up eclipse and drag it into the res/drawable-hdpi folder itll check for errors and if you dont get any error signs your good.
4. right click the project and select android tools and export unsigned Android applicaiton then you can open the apk with 7zip or whatever and then drag the image to wherever you like and use it
5. ????
6. Profit :)
