I will be tonight as soon as phone charges
I've been waiting ever since the adb shell commands have to come out not long ago for a one click.

I tried this method last night and it worked perfectly. In my hunt for the best apps and ROM(s) to use on my freshly rooted phone I came across this forum and app....first post! Haha.

I have a previous rooted Droid X and later received the OTA update for gingerbread (2.3.3 -> 4.5.602). This "one-click" method and the more detailed ADB scripts behind the script do not work (the ones listed on psouza's website: Pete's DROID 3 Page (http://www.psouza4.com/droid3/)).

I receive the following error: adb could not be granted root access via local.prop method. Again, I've tried all the versions of the one-click method by Pter Souza

HarleyDude - The instructions in the second post is a link to a video by Droidmodderx and then some step-by-step instructions. Is that the post you are referring too? This technique appears to work if you were not already pre-rooted prior to receiving the OTA 602 update. I have run the ADB commands as well as several of the 1-click root methods and they all fail. Again, I was rooted prior to the OTA update but now I'm unable to su via ADB or gain root access.

Is my only option to go back to perform the SBF method (back to froyo) as described here: Official Gingerbread update 4.5.602 (rooted and ready) or Stock. (http://www.mydroidworld.com/forums/droid-x-discussion/8771-official-gingerbread-update-4-5-602-rooted-ready-stock.html#post96776)?

I am in the same boat as michaelson. I am running 4.5.602 and the none of the one-click methods would work. They all said successful but i still did not have root access. I even tried a hard reset to take it back to the stock 602 and still no dice. Any ideas?

I followed these steps and got it to work. I ran the 1 click and then executed the prompts and finally ran the 1 click again and it worked.

Instructions for rooting with D3 1-click
1. Make sure you have Motorola drivers installed
2. Download and unzip ‘Droid 3 easy root script v7
3. On your phone: Settings > Applications > Development > USB debugging (check box)
4. Plug phone into computer and select “Charge Only” mode
5. Navigate to ‘Droid 3 easy root’ folder and run ‘Click to root your Droid 3.bat’
6. Now just follow the instructions in the command window and unlock the phone after each reboot.

With this additional info from Rootzwiki if you have problems on the X

in the meantime, open the folder you extracted these files to.
(i'm assuming you are in windows 7 here)
hold Shift+right click a blank spot, select "open a command prompt here"
type: adb shell
when you hit enter, the next line should end with a #
if it's $, run the oneclick again, then start this over

once you have the # prompt, type
mount -oremount,rw /dev/block/system /system
rm /system/bin/su
rm /system/xbin/su
hitting enter after each line.
don't worry if it says it can't find the file... the point here is to get rid of it anyway
