Hey Guys,

Recently loaded DSX, im excited about the HDMI functionality but I have been unsuccessful in getting it to work

I have a mini HDMI cable I know works because I can use it on my xoom no problem...also have the media dock...still no luck on getting it to display on the TV

can anyone shed some light on this, am I able to play movies through the market, netflix etc??

You need either Real HDMI or Xternal display from the market...otherwise HDMI is limited to pics and videos that you've taken with the X's camera/camcorder.

Your screen will freeze on your phone while using HDMI. It's a physical limitation of the phone so don't rate the application badly.

~PheoniX the Droid X relayed this for me.

Real HDMI requires Blur libraries to work. If you're on an AOSP ROM, it will nit work for you, unfortunately. It works well on Froyo and a little less-well on Gingerbread.

im running DSX right now which touts having HDMI functionality so its kinda a bummer

also having trouble tethering even with wugs patch

may just give the new ssx I try, if I can tether I can get my xoom to output via hdmi

Did you try running the "Xternal Display" app?

worked like a charm, much easier than real HDMI and now I can enjoy netflix through my tv until my actual internet is back up and running

Thank you :)

Love Xternal Display but for some reason it's showing up as incompatible with my device. I've used in the past before and just went to re-download it when I e'en into this snag.

Is rooting required to use Real HDMI or Xterna Display?

I'm not rooted, and I've managed to get the latest Xternal Display v1.2.1 to work. Haven't watched an entire movie though... just a couple of minutes of a Netflix movie.

No worries. Thanks for the clarification. I did find a download of the apk, and I can post it if anyone else wants it--I'm not sure if that's allowed, though it is a free app.
