No need to flash gapps from nightly to nightly unless you wipe data. If you have issues then you can always boot into clockwork and install gapps.

yes you will need to reinstall the all in one fix and you install the nightlys on either rom manager premium or from here (CyanogenMod Mirror Network - Powered by TDRevolution (http://download.cyanogenmod.com/?device=cdma_shadow)) and install them in clockwork

if i install the latest nightly, and the camera fix, as long as they are on my phone's SD card, can i just install them right after in install the nightly, and then just do one boot, or do i need to install them one at a time and reboot inbetween each install?

Running spectacular on 34.. However, I do find I end up just wiping data afterwards. It's just been better and it's an hour or so to build it back from Tibu. Anyone notice the background option in lockscreen settings? Nice!

So far I can name quite a few apps I no longer need with CM7.. widgetlocker, shootme, widgetsoid or other power control type.
It's the do-all rom.

And... I don't know if the rom is running some kind of trick like ApeX for Quadrant, but I'm busting 2100-2300 scores, mostly around 2200. Disclaimer yes I know quadrant is no end-all measure of performance. The phone is crazy smooth though (shell 3d, adw, any).. Like rubix focused on steroids.

Still running juice defender (aggressive) and quickclock (balanced).. No issues.

Ran 35 for a day and went back to 25. The phone rebooted about 15 times on its own, wouldn't go into sleep mode most of the time, Android System was using 88% of the battery. I had been getting ~35 hours or more on the extended battery, but with 35 I was down to 32% after 8 hours on the extended battery with no phone calls and screen on only for about 10 min. Wiped cache again and dalvik, etc. but it did not help. I think I will hang out at 25 for a while. I have only experienced one reboot on 25 in the 10 days I was running it.

Maybe 35 would run better if installed fresh over a data/cache wipe but I don't feel like restoring everything again today. Probably try again in a few days.

I've found with ALL the nightlies, I've run best if taking the conservative approach and just wiping. It's just easier and has served well. I've found myself doing this after a first install wiping dalvik only, then just getting back into clockwork and wiping, then to market for tibu, then to tibu for restoring apps. It's an hour ordeal which is why I don't mess with nightlies except maybe once per week. That said, #35 is running like a scalded dog on my phone.

You all are aware that 95% of the changes listed in the nightly builds are not specifically for the Droid X, right? Meaning that from nightly to nightly, hardly any changes are being made in terms of specific stuff on our device?

If you don't believe me just browse to the changelogs and look from device to device.

It is an ongoing issue with the DX and seems to be random and some people have more issues than others and different luck on the same builds. Gremlins I say. Gremlins.

On the reboot front, I had constant reboots a few nightly's ago until I flashed the latest Gapps. I believe I went from the 3/07 Gapps to the 6/13 (latest anyway) Gapps from the website.

After installing CM7, i realized that my GPS doesn't work which i knew it wouldn't from reading. Then I found out about nightlies, and reading about them and now i have some questions.
1. Do I have to sbf again to install a nightly? I keep reading the word "flash" and I am getting confused.

3. Does gps work on nightly 37?

No sbf you can go to any nightly you wish now...I'm not on CM now so I can't confirm GPS but I would think it's working...flash meaning go to clockwork and install nightly zip or you can do it from rom manager if you have it...just dalvik clear between nightlies is needed...

As Bkdodger said, you can flash any nightly without an SBF. Personally, if you installed the original beta, I would do a data and cache wipe before installing. Each nightly is a full install, so you can switch around if needed. GPS works on 37 for me. You will need to flash the all in one zip after the ROM to have camera and media playback. running nightly #34. GPS works fine, I do wipe Data/Cache/Dalvik Cache each time. Flash the nightly, then Google Apps, all in one fix each time. Seems to work better for me.

Only issue I have is that the 3g performance isn't great when I leave my home area. This has happened twice on different nightlies. Not sure what that's about.

I want to mention something about my experience with GPS. When I flashed 37, GPS took a LONG time to acquire when I first switched it on, and then earlier today it could not find it at all. After flashing the GPS fix, it acquires as fast as I would expect it to on stock software. On 28 it also took quite awhile to get working, and on 23 I had thought it wasn't working at all, though I could have tested it longer.

I'm not really worried about battery anymore. Performance evens out and improves after a few cycles on the same nightly. Plus I've got an extended battery on the way.

Also I've asked this before, but can battery performance actually change that much between nightlies? Like, can somebody show me things on the changelog and say "well this will have a pretty big impact," or are you guys just exaggerating?

Was on miui... got 38 and booted into recovery thru rom manager (miss the simple reboot from the power button)... wiped data and all.. flashed the backup I made thru cw
.. then flashed the 38. Then the fix.
My phone is as it was before miui. Brilliant!
Problem is swype will not install... I've been typing this crap slowly... I'm gunna sbf to 38.
Ill be back suckas

I've noticed big differences in battery performance depending on which nightly I'm running. Build 30 seems to be the best for my device so far. I'm sure it is unique to each individual device. Just have to figure out which one works best for you.

I too got excellent battery life on 30, If you check out my thread about sleep and standby, you'll see screens of me losing only 5% overnight. I think the brightness tweak helped the most, but I also did the imoseyon tweak, and v6 (for the hard to kill launcher and mega mem tweak). Akeezy also posted some shots from liquid and he was getting good life as well.

Is anyone else's battery statistics not work on 39?

I was on cm7 before jumping ship on Sat. to MIUI. It's ok, but I prefer cm7. Before changing I made a backup. Can I just restore this nandroid or do I have to flash the latest nightly?

You should be able to just flash the nandroid. You can jump back and forth between froyo roms and 2nd init ROMs, just not GB kernel based roms.

So I have only installed one cm7 nightly and I wanted to flash the latest one. When flashing new nightlies do you lose everything you have on your home screens and such like you do when you install a new ROM? Or does everything look the same. That is one thing that always annoyed me when trying a new ROM after having everything set up exactly how I wanted it.

As long as you do not wipe data, everything will stay there. Make sure to wipe cache and dalvik when you flash, though. If you encounter problems after the flash, you may want to wipe data as well, which in that case you would have to set everything back up. Titanium Backup is nice because it allows you to back up applications and their data, so it is easier to reinstall on a different or updated rom.

Maybe it is just me but is seems that each nightly from 25ish on has slowly been getting poorer battery life.... did something change in the 20s relating to battery consumption?-AT

Flashed 40 last night battery life is not so good. 33% at 14 hours. Stock settings and moderate usage. To Adam Tomaino above, try build 30. I had very good battery life on that one. I've being falling back on that one when I don't like a new build. I may go back if I don't like 41. Haven't had time to flash it today.

Ever since installing CM7 back starting with nightly 7, I have had the seemingly rare but annoying random LED color bug. Every notification I receive results in a random LED color. I have checked the CM settings and reset the LED notification colors but to no avail. Everything results in random colors. Has anyone figured out a fix for this yet?

Noticed on the last couple of nightlys my battery will only charge to 99%, if I leave it plugged in it says fully charged on the lock screen, but 99% on the meter, it doesn't show as connected but will slowly get to 100%. Been using battery calibration app on each nightly.

Do you mean the bar didn't show that it was charging even though it was plugged in? Mine did that today. The phone mistakenly thought it was at 100 but I calibrated anyway. Later the phone showed 62% but the bar was just about topped off and not moving. I think it's when your physical battery is full so it's not charging, and your phone eventually realizes this.
My phone then jumped up to 99 after reboot and did exactly what you're describing. The phone will read charged at 95% btw.

People always say just charge to 100 and calibrate, but 100 doesn't seem to mean 100 unless you're at 4200 mV as well. The phone seems to have a way of correcting itself if you do proper charge cycles though.

I don't know what it is, but I've been getting absolutely horrid connectivity on nightly 40. I can barely use wifi anymore, and it takes minutes for 3G to kick in and start loading my page... most of the time Opera just says not connected. I've also noticed in the status bar the 3G will either be white, or it will be green, but the arrows won't be flashing indicating that I'm downloading or uploading something.

I haven't had that particular problem w/my 3g, but I can say that I am loosing service more frequently, and having to toggle airplane mode briefly to correct.atleast airplane mode toggle is working 4 me in 40 though. In 39, it seemed that I could not turn airplane mode on, unless I went into it from settings.

I believe the reason we r not seeing a another nightly, is we're suppose to be getting an upgrade to 2.3.5 in the next nightly, so I hope that is true, that it works!!!!

I have had the same problem too. I would rather not have my battery drained because my Led is flashing constantly.

Nightly #43, everything works, after the camera/camcorder/torch fix of course. Will have to see about battery life and 3g reliability.
Android version says 2.3.5
