DroidX2 (http://www.droidxforums.com/index.php) owners, you’re missing the clockworkmod recovery, right? Well, if you’re ready to take risks of flashing/hacking — and even greater risk that applies to Chinese-origin APKs — you can install the ClockWorkMod recovery on your Droid X2 too, One APK file is just what you need. The Droid X2 (http://www.droidxforums.com/index.php) bootstrap app was actually meant for the Atrix 4G but it’s loving Droid X2 too, equally it seems.

Of course, the Chinese origin of the hack is big drawback, but users in the last 24 hrs who’ve given this recovery a go are saying only good things — that’s for the motivation, if you’re looking for some. Users have been able to fully backup their ROMs and restore them too successfully!

Those willing to give it a try can move forward to this XDA thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1166055) to download the apk file as also read the user’s views and opinions over there. Be careful, and good luck!

This could be awesome for X2 owners. I know quite a few are posting good responses of this which of course makes me happy. I find myself reconsidering the D3 that is arriving tomorrow now.

I think the chinese deal is scaring folks. As far as I know it's not actually chinese per say. It appears to be a modified version of the same tool atrix owners use, ported to the X2.

All I know is I used it, it works, it backs up and restores. Tested it myself.

What isn't made in China?? Lol

The gummy bear fruit snacks that my 3 yr old loves and the only reason why his granny(my mother) buys them is because they are manufactured in the great U.S.A.

Lol, that was my thoughts when I installed it, "so the apk came from china, what else is new", still out doesn't seem like many people are embracing it. Seems only myself and a few others are brave enough to enjoy having a working recovery.

The guys over at the atrix xda forum even found a way to access the motorola cloud servers and they found a unlocked bootloader that will work on any atrix phone in the world. I think something similar is possible with the x2, I wrote a quick thread here on DXF. Sadly it's being ignored mainly in part I think because you have to use the recovery that no one wants to try.

Cest la vie
