1-AOSP Liberty v0.8 - Really fast, stable, and smooth. Have had no issues with this ROM at all. Also very customizable. Only downfalls I see are a current lack of theme choices and no HDMI support
2-Liberty GB v0.9 - Minimal BLUR, HDMI support, and lots of customizations and themes. Has been unstable at times for me (reboots)
3-APEX 2.0.0 RC2 - Basically the same thing as AOSP Liberty v0.8 except with fewer customizations but more theme choices

I like AOSP so my 3 would be:

1) Simply Stunning 2.0 (SSX) - the best I've used so far, hands down. Very stable and very fast. Battery life isn't too bad. For me, this has the best balance between speed, stability and battery life.

2) CyanogenMod7 - I stopped using this at about Nightly #10 (I think....when SSX came out I switched to that. This is also a great ROM. CM7 and SSX are like twins that were separated at birth. SSX seems to be more stable for me....its like a good feeling you get about something, but can't explain it.

3) Apex RC2 - badass ROM with the best battery life I've seen. It's also AOSP. It doesn't get much better than this....except for source-based ROMS, which is why I have SSX and CM7 as my top 2 choices.

COULD SOMEPNE EXPLAIN THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN SOURCE BASED and non source Based ROMS.....TRYIN' TO LEARN....

Source based comes from the source released by Google and the AOSP ( android open source project)

Non source based are roms built of the build released by the carrier and built by a phone manufacturer like Motorola so a custom ROM that is non source based has elements of blur in it when dealing with the droid x

Give MIUI a shot man. It's extremely stable, smooth, and great new change. Everything is really easily customized too. Brought my love for DX to a whole new levl8

1. ssx....fast, smooth, customizable. goodish batt
2. justice ....see above but alittle less customization. goodish batt. Also j gives it a cool pure android os feel.
3. miui good batt and cool theme customization. A very/diff feel to your dx. Def a must see. Also, after using it for a 12 ish hours now, I can speak Chinese!
4. liberty gb .8. best batt and its a classic now...lol.

1. MIUI - Fast, smooth, incredibly customizable, so different from any other android ROM.
2. Liquid - Stable, smooth, fast, great tweaks, battery life not as good as MIUI.
3. AOSP Liberty - Best battery life of any ROM I've tried, stable, just a good ROM.

1) zombiestomped 1.7
2) apex 1.4
3) liberty (any)

as of now, miui for something other than stock. cm7s battery life can't compare and it has been much more stable. I love cm7, but it its far from complete on the X compared to miui. apex rc2 is one if my favorites, but stock .596 with imoseyon and supercharger script made most of the other roms look pathetic. (in my experience at least) love them all though :) it's great to see stuff for the x. don't even complain that it looks like ios though because you can use a different launcher if you so choose.

Zombie basically is stock 596 with more tweaks, better ui, and a handy customizer.

miui is nice, but for battery life, i passed for shuji. when apex on gb is finalized, i'll be moving to apex. maybe cm7 on gb when it's stable.

Apex1.3 for being the newb-friendly rom w/ awesome battery life, speed, and stability. Anyone can flash apex 1.3 and have all the benefits of a custom rom and all the functionality of stock blur.

GummyJar 2.5 for reaching what I consider to have been the plateau of AOSP look/feel. Even pure AOSP roms now don't look or feel different than gummyjar2.5 felt back in the day. This set the standard for this direction.

CM (any build) for bringing us 2nd-init and thus pure, source-based AOSP. All the "hot" roms now are derivatives of cm and 2nd-init.

Those three roms each changed the game when they were launched.

I ran it and it was very nice, speedy and stable. I've been on SSX and MIUI up until CM7GB came out and will probably hang around till somebody else gets there build on the GB kernel. You being 13 and made MoeMod as good as it is, if u keep with it when your in your 20's u could be a rom guru... Lol :-)

My top 3 are:
1. Miui-killer themes
2. Liberty 2.01-was my first, plus tons of themes, apex 1.4.1
3. Ssx 2.1, liquid,omfgb,cm4dx

Pretty much the number 1 spot is subject to change. I love them all, because I can't make a ROM and wish I could. So props to all the devs that "put in work" so my x can work better.

Swyped with SSX 2.1 on my droidX.

Well it's been almost 2 months since I started this tread so I would like to ammend my original post:

1-MIUI - You just can't beat the customizations and the sheer beauty of this ROM, and with @framework43 and DXF on the job, the ROM keeps getting better and better almost every week. The only downside I see so far is the battery life
2-Justice v0.1 - I really love JRummy's stuff and Justice was another great one. Basically CM7 with all the liberty extras and no blur. Again the downside here is battery life.
3-Liberty v0.9 - Best blur ROM I have tried, however I have yet to try any of the new .602 ROMs like Shuji and Apex.

I have to say, its really personal preference. I like certain things about each ROM I have tried. MIUI had a lot of great tweaks that I have yet to find in another ROM. The music player was my all time favorite.

CM7 is just beastly and has the most customizations. Battery life is definitely way better with the GB kernel.

For the first time flasher, Liberty is probably one of the best, especially since JRummy made it so it could be flashed in the Toolbox easily. I have run it before and am on it currently because of the HDMI support.

I used to have MIUI as my number one but there were minor bugs and for two weeks the update never came so I decided to try something new. After trying OMFGB I will not be going back but MIUI is a close second. I tried liberty before and liked it but I did not keep it very long because it just wasn't enough to keep me hooked.
