View Full Version : Liberty 2.0.1 wanting to go liberty GB

07-05-2011, 10:33 PM
If this is post elsewhere sorry. Looked but have not found answers. If I want a clean install of liberty GB, can I wipe data and clear cache. Then just flash Liberty GB, or do I have to sbf. I used Z4 to root, and see an unroot option. Or should I unroot and go to my nandroid preroot backup. I am having a few issues with my email sending and recieving pics. Also getting an internal error on docs to go. Thanks for any help.

Okay so you are on 2.0.1 correct?

P.S welcome to the forum

If you want the cleanest install, SBF is a must. After the SBF, you'll need to reroot, then get D2 Boostrap recovery. Easy SBF (http://www.droidxforums.com/forum/droid-x-sbf/23638-linux-solution-your-windows-rsd-lite-problems.html). Once you're rerooted with D2 Bootstrap recovery installed, you'll download parts 1 and two from here Latest Gingerbread (http://www.droidxforums.com/forum/gingerbread-general-discussion/27636-official-dx-gingerbread-2-3-3-4-5-596-release-thread-something-everyone.html) and install in CWR. Then, download the Liberty Toolbox Pro, go into ROM manager in the Toolbox, the Nightlies and the latest version will be there to download and install.

That right there would be perfect.
However I would personally take the easy route and just wipe data/factory reset. Install the GB all in one.zip from Team Black Hat and make it that much easier. And then I would just download Liberty v.8 and install that because itll save you money and is the exact same thing minus some SU fixes.
No need to SBF, and no need to pay for the app.
Just my personal opinion.

You would still need to pay for the TBH app though it's half the price, and there's no guarantee Team Liberty will post future Nightlies for free as they've done with v.8. If you want to stay up-to-date on the latest version, you'll need the Toolbox Pro, but BH's route will work as well. It's up to you though.

sorry for delay, had to step out. Yes on 2.0.1 Ok, I am a little new to all the rooting, I have donate liberty tool box. not sure what TBH is. Will going to The GB solve any on my issues or will I be in the same boat on GB. Sorry for so many Questions, but will I ever have to get the Ota GB, or will the one zip be all I ever need.

The process should fix your issues, you won't need to get the OTA, the prerooted leak will be all you need.

Where can I get the zip, and to be sure. I go into bootstrap, Wipe data/factory reset, then go to install from zip or apply sdcar: update zip. then reboot.

Yeah we were all as you were at one point so dont be afraid to ask questions.
If you unroot your phone like you said in the OP, bootstrap wont work. Therefore you cannot flash a nandroid backup.
And when you wipe data/factory reset it should fix all your problems, and if you take popcenator's route of SBF'ing it will fix every problem you could ever encounter.

You must go into the market and buy the Team Black Hat App and it wil give you a list of things to download and instructions on how to do so.
And you can do that, or choose the option under apply update.zip and navigate though the SD card, and choose the option yourself.

Thanks Will look into it. Not sure I am ready to sbf but may need to.

Me personally, I would not take the SBF route. It just takes to much time. If you go the route i showed you itll work, ive gone from Froyo to GB countless amount of times. just make sure to follow all the instructions and youll be set.

between froyo Liberty and GB liberty?
They run off different kernels which is what the whole system talks to.
Which will equal soft brick (eternal bootloop) and an SBF.

And the TBH app gets you to GB then you have to flash Liberty over it.
