Hi, I'm new to the Android scene and everything about it. I recently started reading on rooting my phone. I have been google searching for a while now and have only found help on someone who has already rooted their phone so I finally decided to ask here. Here are my specs:
System - 4.5.596.MB810
Android version - 2.3.3

I read some talks about the radio antenna version or something like that but I don't know where to find that information.
Thanks for your help.

Z4root Has already been reported to not work on 595 and 596 Droid X's. (I searched through that thread already)

Z4 will not root gb .596 you would have to sfb to 2.2, google droid x sbf, then google tbh version of .596 it is the official 596 but prerooted

go to the Droid X Sbf threads and look into the 1KDS method. The z4root froyo, then download and install the two part .596 zip. then you will have rooted gingerbread

Watching CM4DX run around in circles.

I can explain in more detail the sbf but there are plenty of posts with complete directions on what to do. The TBH two part is pre rooted and the only way I know of to get rooted gingerbread

Yea, when I rooted mine it was before some of these newer updates. I think mine was 2.2

Now I just wait for it to be simple like that on the x2

its actually not too hard with the 1kds method, download an iso. put it on a cd. boot computer from cd and push like 5 buttons. its that easy to sbf thanks to some really smart people.

If you want rooted Gingerbread, or just root in general, you will need to get off that system version you are currently on, by a process called "SBF'ing"

To learn more, visit the SBF link in my signature and read the sticky threads there. Read some more, and then read some more. Make sure you feel comfortable with the while process before doing so. Then once you have gone back a system version, you can than root, using z4root, and then install mods such as a pre-rooted version of Gingerbread. Just take your time, read, read, and read some more!

go to this post and follow these directions. 1KDS is the man when it comes to this stuff. I just did this to my phone 2 hours ago.

Well I have the files to do everything now, but I'm still not sure if I want to. The only reason I want to do it is because I want the button LED lights off on my Droid X lol.
One last question (I hope). Do I want the ODEXED (http://www.wupload.com/file/3484367/596-Odexed.zip) or DEODEXED (http://www.wupload.com/file/3484367/596-Deodexed.zip)?
Is this a safe place to follow instructions from?

the odexed is fine. You need the following apps in the following order. Z4root. Root phone. Koush Droid 2 bootstrap, bootstrap phone and reboot into recovery. Install the zip in clockwork mod. reboot. Try and catch the gingerbread man after that
