Instead of SBFing back to .340, would it work to restore an old backup of stock froyo from a few months ago? Before I went to Apex 1.3 back in December, I made a backup of stock rooted froyo which I still have on my SD card. Would I be able to restore the backup, then load the 2 part rooted .596 gingerbread?

Shouldn't be an issue. Just make sure you wipe everything in clockwork twice before you reload your froyo stock

For some it worked. For me, I bricked... then I had to sbf.. lol. Turned into a long cut. Make sure your battery is full beforehand. I honestly recommend just sbf'ing.

The one time I tried that, I would turn my phone on and it would flash the boot logo and then shut off. So I obviously ended up having to SBF anyways. Worth a shot though, like I said... I only tried it once.

It worked fine for me. I just restored my 340 nandroid, and did a wipe data / cache, than installed the 2 parts of 596, all using droid 2 bootstrapper:-)

Whether it will work depends on how stock your stock nandroid is. If you modded at all it will likely give you issues. Make sure you defrost anything in TiBU.

I would recommend SBFing... I would say the odds are ... you will have to do it no matter what.

Either way you're going to lose data, so you're better off sbf'ing to be safe.

I did that cause ot seems easy but no dice. Had to sbf in the end but luckily it was easier than k thought it would be and im on. 596 odexed and i know that it's a clean install. My advice sbf using 1kbs its very easy.

My nandroids ended up all being modded in some way, despite how stock I remember them being. What I ended up doing is going back to an old 928 ROM I had from last year, the 2.3.15 version of froyo (928 ODEXED BACK TO STOCK). Then I pulled an OTA update from verizon which brought the phone to stock .340. From there going to gingerbread was easy, and now running liberty 0.8. Everything went very smoothly and I didn't have to SBF.

The only thing I'm having issues with is constant force closes from LPP. I edited the build.prop file and I think that worked, we'll see. So far I think I'm Liking liberty rather than Apex, there are more customization options.
