I was rooted to GIngerAle 2.0 from a rooted 2.2.1 OTA. I linux SBFed to Android 2.3.3 System Version 4.5.596 (VRZ_MB810_4.5.596_1FF_01) (http://www.multiupload.com/J79IMCLVSP) from the following website:

https://sites.google.com/site/1kdsdroidx/home

(https://sites.google.com/site/1kdsdroidx/home)I did not have the Droid 2 bootstrap bootloader installed and quickly learned that the SBF was a non rootable from inside the SBF. I tried to SBF back to Android 2.2.1 System Version 2.3.340 Full (VRZ_MB810_2.3.34_1FF_01) (http://bit.ly/hfp9iY) and got caught in a boot loop. I tried to boot into recovery using the power+camera+down-volume method and the screen showed exclamation mark inside a traingle with the green Android logo to the bottom right. I tried holding down the up-volume+down-volume to enter recovery and nothing happened. I have tried this recovery method multiple times. Upon reboot, the DX would just boot loop. I also tried to re-SBF the 2.3.340 version multiple times with the above recovery method without successfully getting past the boot loop.

I was able to re-SBF back to 4.5.596 and have a functioning (non-rooted) GB. I never installed the Droid 2 bootstrap. I can't install it now from GB, because it is not rooted (currently). I think when I did the original SBF to 4.5.596, it deleted the original clockwork mod based bootloader (Droid X bootstrap) so that when I SBFed back to 2.3.340, I am unable to access the Droid X bootstrap bootloader.

Has anyone else had this problem?

How did you get around it?

Any suggestions on how to get a bootstraped bootloader on GB 4.5.596?

It sounds like you SBFd back to Froyo (2.2.1) correctly, but stock recovery is power+home buttons, then once you see the android guy, hit the search button. GB recovery requires you to use the volume buttons whereas Froyo you hit the search button. Wipe data and you should be good to go.

So here's what you should do:

1. SBF using the 2.3.340 FULL SBF file again
2. Once it's finished, you'll bootloop, that's normal
3. Get into stock Froyo recovery by pulling the battery, reinstalling, hold down the power+home buttons, then hit the search key when the android comes up.
4. Wipe data/Factory reset
5. Reboot.
6. Reroot using z4root or Gingerbreak
7. Get DX/D2 Bootstrapper/Bootstrap Recovery
8. Download the two part method from here http://www.mydroidworld.com/forums/droid-x-discussion/7651-official-dx-gingerbread-2-3-3-4-5-596-release-thread-something-everyone.html
9. Boot into clockwork recovery via bootstrapper
10. Install the two zips you downloaded
11. Reboot.

I did use the power+home button to access the recovery and then the volume and search buttons, but the screen would stay on the exclamation mark inside a traingle with the green Android logo to the bottom right of the triangle. Sorry I misstated that in my last post, and thanks for the quick response.

In the mean time I will try the SBF to 2.3.340 again, because maybe I missed something...

Try the SBF again making sure you use the current full SBF file, not the system file, only hit the search key, it should work.

You can get the D2 bootstrap from the market. Here is the market link:

https://market.android.com/details?id=com.koushikdutta.droid2.bootstrap&feature=search_result

You have to be rooted in order to install the D2 bootstrap (sounds like you are rooted). The just follow the instructions above:

So here's what you should do:

1. SBF using the 2.3.340 FULL SBF file again
2. Once it's finished, you'll bootloop, that's normal
3. Get into stock Froyo recovery by pulling the battery, reinstalling, hold down the power+home buttons, then hit the search key when the android comes up.
4. Wipe data/Factory reset
5. Reboot.
6. Reroot using z4root or Gingerbreak
7. Get DX/D2 Bootstrapper/Bootstrap Recovery
8. Download the two part method from here http://www.mydroidworld.com/forums/d...-everyone.html (http://www.mydroidworld.com/forums/droid-x-discussion/7651-official-dx-gingerbread-2-3-3-4-5-596-release-thread-something-everyone.html)
9. Boot into clockwork recovery via bootstrapper
10. Install the two zips you downloaded
11. Reboot.

Popcenator-

Thank you very much. I did what you said. I thought I had used both the up/down button method and the search method, but apparently I did not. At any rate, I now have 4.5.596 rooted! Again, thanks for your time and for the quick and thorough response.

So to get into stock recovery on GB, it's home & pwr buttons, then after triangle appears volume up or down? I was trying to figure this out last night...

It should be both volume buttons at the same time on GB. If I remember correctly.
