It's all good, get the word out before folks take the update, then wonder why they can't get their root apps to work...lol...

No immediate root should be expected by anyone that's been half awake this past month. Plus that can be fixed later when someone figures it out. More interesting will be whether bootloader is advanced. No reason to think it won't if past predicts the future.

I remember when froyo was leaked and people said they didn't want to take ota. At the time I didn't understand the reluctance. Why would anyone not want the latest software? I understand now :)

Just read Mike in a similar thread state bootloader is advanced.

I already have a pc partitioned with win7 and Ubuntu, could someone point me to what script I would need to use for sbf? I have no problems with rsd lite, I just wanted to try it the linux way.

Sure thing. This is the way I always SBF'd until 1KDS came out with his awesome all-in-one bootable cd...Just make sure you download the full 2.3.340 from here first, and it's easier if you can put it and sbf_flash on a USB drive..

OK, I could just use the sbf file that I have been using and I would put the phone in flash mode and plug it in before or after running script? Thanks.

Plug it in then run the script..it has to be at the bootloader. Once you have the files ready to be flashed, your are good to go. Get the flash utility and the full .340 sbf file in the links he provided. Both are at 1KDS's site..have these ready then put the phone in bootloader and then plug it in to your computer and follow the directions in his link and watch the magic happen.

Hey, just wanted to check in to see if it is necessary to rename the upgrader.apk file to stop the OTA update from messing stuff up? To be on the safe side I already renamed it.. but is it necessary?

I am currently running .595 Deodexed.

I think u can just freeze it with ti backup...but if your are deodexed i dont know if it will take it or not. And apparently P3 has said you must be on stock froyo for it to take the ota..you should be good

Sbf has become almost second nature to like walking. Bad download? sbf, screwed up an update? Sbf. Want froyo back? Yes you guessed it, sbf. Sbf is your best friend. Learn to love it or forget about rooting and flashing roms.lol serious sbf is not as bad as it sounds. The next time o sbf i will try the linux way I here its the best. I sbf'd about 12-15 times, 3 times in 6 hours. Fun.

Cry. Whine.

My market account is still all screwed up, if I SBF, I'm probably gonna lose half my apps.

Does anyone have a link to that market cleaner? Can't seem to find it. I have already tried clearing data+cache from the market, didn't help.

Grr, and then having to reset up all my screens...Maybe they will be able to release a rooted 596, god, I hope so. I already lost root because I went to 595 and Gingerbreak didn't work. So I suppose I have nothing to lose from SBFing...

This may be a dumb question but would it be safe to say that soon after the official release someone will come up with a way to go from GB XXX to the Verizon official leak? Also, won't we be able at one point be able to "SBF" GB?

Not a dumb question at all..I'm not sure about the first part..i'd bet on no. as for the second question, yes.eventually you will be able to sbf gb. :)

Yeah, because I thought we'd get an upgrade path from 595 according to what I read...And I don't think the link was out for the rooted 595.

My market account is still all screwed up, if I SBF, I'm probably gonna lose half my apps. Use titanium backup to backup your apps and app data. SBF back to 340, then re-install titanium backup and then restore your apps. PROBLEM SOLVED.

Use titanium backup to backup your apps and app data. SBF back to 340, then re-install titanium backup and then restore your apps. PROBLEM SOLVED.

If your titanium does not work since you don't have root get app list from the market and make a backup. It makes a list of all your apps along with a market link. It saves the list on your sd card. When you are on your new rom etc reload the app from the market and press restore. Your app list will show up. Press the app you want and it will take you directly to the market link, press download, press ok, then press hard back key and it takes you back to the list and you do the next one. I have @120 apps and it took me @15 minutes to load them all.
Data is harder to save if titanium is not working. Some apps have their internal backups, so make sure you update that if it exists because you can restore it once the app is reloaded.

Good luck.

I'll throw any old rom on my X that I find around here (though lately I've been mostly using Lib and Apex) but I will think long and hard– doing extensive research, verifying other user experiences and then waiting at least a month– before I'll let a stock rom on my phone.
