Just wanna know if the 3 steps to v4.5.588 is necessary or am I missing something important with the two smaller files that are included in the steps. Reason I am asking is in the Droid Life Website there is a stock version that you can load then use Gingerbreak to root, is it basically the same. This is the route I took and a lot of the forums are still using the 3 steps to v4.5.588, please help, thanks!

The three step process on here should work for ya. But gingerbreak works fine too from what I understand. Can you post a link from the other site?

If you are able to use root apps and are on build .588 then you're fine.

Thanks guys! I am able to use some of the root apps, but not all like AutoKiller Memory Optimizer still asking for full root. Is there anything special though with those other two small files in the 3 step process that could be to my advantage with this version? Also, I noticed my LED notifications lights do not blink or go on, any reason or fix for that?

Thanks again for responding Dustin, but I don't know how to post links like what you just did, but its in droid life website, and just go to the column that says root(unlock) and pick droid x, then scroll down, and you will see the post I am referring to.

Root doesn't work like that. You have root or you don't. What apps are you saying you have working?

there is a such thing as temporary root, but like snow said, what apps are asking for full root access?

Root Explorer, the Droid 2 Bootstrapper, and AutoKiller Memory Optimizer, these are the only 3 I think that are only ones that work with root, I have'nt really installed or done much ever since going to the v4.5.588. Been just messing around playing around with the Gingerbread hype.

You should be rooted..what apps weren't working. Root explorer requires root.

AutoKiller Memory Optimizer still asking to me for full root access, I don't know if that is a compatibality issue. Do you guys have any idea in regards to the LED not blinking when a message has been recieved?

Should I just go ahead and follow the 3 steps to .588 since I am having these little issues?

JeepDroid...are you having any issues with your LED lights not blinking?

It's a problem that a lot of people had, one easy fix is light flow from the market, much more functionality to control LED for different applications/notifications.

And is it asking you to allow superuser access? Because if you don't check that box to allow it, that message will appear everytime you open the app to use it
