Yup...that's what I've got. Just flashed it.

Per the other question, I just installed the zip with no wipes...took a little while to boot up, and then I verified that all of the .odex files were gone.

I have gingercomb running over rooted OTA GB, non-deox. I want to install the deox, so a few q's:

1. can i install the deox with gingercomb on already?

2. if not, can i restore backup I made just before installing GC?

3. If not, i'll have to sbf again to 340 and start over?

Nothing is missing. I think that person was looking for the GenieNewsWidgit. It is not part of this Gingerbread. I even restored to verify. Funny thing is, I froze the news and weather widgits. So at first glance, I thought something was missing. LMAO. I love Titanium Backup.

Just so everyone knows...
Cuz I'm pretty sure there is still loads of confusion out there...
P3Droid has added a 4.5.588 deodexed zip that can be flashed ON TOP OF 4.5.573...there is no need to SBF back to froyo and install zips 1 2 & 3...
One simple zip...
it can be found here:MEGAUPLOAD - The leading online storage and file delivery service (http://www.megaupload.com/?d=NN1PWGMH)

I flashed it right on top of the leaked GB...no problems...

TideFan22

Yeah that makes it easier for people still on the old leak that want to get on the new, but don't wanna have to Sbf and go through that whole process.

Pretty new to all this stuff, so, I have no idea how/why it didn't bootloop, I've read otherpeople did it and it worked too. So, when I restore the version before I put GC on, EVERYTHING will be back to how it was at that moment in time, correct?

Then I backup after deox, then DON'T apply a theme until it's said that it's for the OTA rooted deox GB, correct?

Using the Dex version, is anyone seeing issues or is it all good? Is this true of all theming? Any time you want to try a new one, you have to restore to before the one you're presently on? Won't you lose all data and system changes, apps installed, etc., when you do that?

Check out Wug's thread about deodexing here:http://www.droidxforums.com/forum/hacking-help/21960-deodexing-explained-how.html
That should answer some questions for you...

If you are sticking to the same Android version when flashing ROMs, you shouldn't have to wipe data, unless the ROM cooker states it...You can always back up your USER DATA with Titanium Backup and restore your apps that way, even when switching between ROMs....AFAIK....

Someone correct me if I am wrong...

I was thinking more along the themes line, but i guess this would apply to ROM's as well.

I wasn't specifically asking about wiping data, was asking if i needed to restore to before i applied the theme to then apply a new theme or can ijust overlay the new theme over the old?

greevedogg
04-15-2011, 08:23 AM
In past experiences, themes can be loaded over the top of old themes, because basically they are overwriting the files, so in some cases, aspects of an older theme will show thru if the new theme is incomplete...does that make sense?
If you are thinking about experimenting with multiple themes, then if I were you, would make a backup of stock GB to go back to each time before you theme....just to be 100% sure.

If you go to op from p3 there was an update, the Deoxed file was over 100+meg and it has been patched to fix prior issues and works on older gb and new
.588 builds. The gingercomb theme can go on top. Boot is slightly longer but nothing major I think. Crt animation and battery icon comes with it and works, no issues yet, except battery % is only shows increments of 10 and even when system its shows 20,15, 10 and 5, but battery icon shows 20, 10 then powers off when depleted. Not sure if its in theme or with leak. Other than that its smooth
So far.

Are you using p3's latest deoxed gb with the patch fix? If you are there is an easter egg inside that let's you change that. You need android terminal emulator and busybox both from market and free. Install both and open terminal and type su then type pulldown and follow instructions. You do have to be on p3 Deoxed gb, the file is over 100 mega. There is another Deoxed that's only 49 mega, that wont work, i've tried.

I flashed the new deodex file and lost the crt animation. I already had it so I thought I didn't need the download with the crt. Can I just flash the animation again?

I got it a few posts down from 5.88 gb by p3 it gives you three options grab the one you need. Im sorry if I wasn't clear, I meant the op for the 5.88 gb download.

It did the same to me last night :actually @5am. I was able to get back into clockwork and wiped cache, dalvick cache and then rebooted. It was still fussy but after a few tries with shutting the screen, airplane mode etc, my homescreen was fine. I was still having trouble getting into my apps drawer. Fortunately for me I hadn't slept so I left it alone for a few hours and it was fine when I woke up. If the phone wasn't innanimate I would say it needed to get used to it!

Question is this the first deodex file you flashed or was it on top of the previous deodex file from P3Droid. For me, it was the second one, so I wonder if there's a problem with doing that since the second zip is half deodex, half odex. It might be safer to go back to stock Gingerbread to deodex.

If you were having trouble with P3drodi's latest patch, read this...

I had the same trouble. This solved my problems.
