Looks like we just got our [EDIT] second [EDIT] gingerbread ROM

UPDATE: THIS ROM IS NOT FOR THE NEWER OTA (588) BUILD, USE ONLY ON THE TBH LEAK OF GINGERBREAD (573)

original post:
rubiX Blurry Bread - Rubik - AllDroid Public Board (http://alldroid.org/tabid/40/g/posts/m/10156/rubiX-Blurry-Bread.aspx#post10156)

This is very basic right now.. don't expect anything fancy for a while.

Initial release:

Full init.d support

Sysctl.Conf support and pre-tweaked

DrodSpeed inside

All apps fully optimized and zipaligned

Zipalign on every boot (for those lazy themers)

Internal Task Killer adjusted

Market apps completely removed (yes, even gmail and google search)

To get full gmail function back, you must set Gmail to sync via accounts/sync settings in the settings app.

To get google search function back, you must download it from the market

To get voice search, voice directions, text to speech back, you must download voice search from the mark

That's all I can remember right now.. Since most people I've had talk to me say they were happy with the new blur, I decided to not include the scripts for adding/removing until I get a little more feedback.

If you're flashing BlurryBread, wipe data and cache. It probably isn't needed, but do it anyways. I won't support bugs otherwise :)

pretty sure you must already be running gb to flash this. Just putting that out there before someone makes a boo boo

After I froze some of the blur crap it went up to 1783, since i've been messing with quadrant one thing I noticed is the scores are all.over the place.

Yes they are. I run three and average them, and use them to compare the different roms and oc settings i try. Before i did anything on gb i was 1700-1900. Now 2000-2200.

Thank you! Can you flash it over rooted froyo (well I'm running liberty) or would I have to put rooted gb on it first?

lynneddington

No its just for gb. If you want to stay on froyo, id recommend rubix 2.0.1 or rubix blurry 2.0. They are both outstanding roms.

I am. My contacts are acting crazy. When I open a contact from either the contacts icon, starred contacts or through the dialer, it opens and then immediately closes. May wipe and go back to stock GB. Or maybe Lexlite.

I am. My contacts are acting crazy. When I open a contact from either the contacts icon, starred contacts or through the dialer, it opens and then immediately closes. May wipe and go back to stock GB. Or maybe Lexlite.
That sounds like what happened when some of us froze one of the yahoo apk files using titanium. Was yahoo possibly removed. If so everyone should be experiencing the same. If not check your titanium and yahoo files before reflashing

I'm thinking it shouldn't be that nasty really:

1 Backup apps in TiBu

2 Backup LPP settings

3 Bootstrap Backup

4 Wipe all and Flash RubiX, reboot

5 Wipe and flash theme if so inclined (optional of course)

6 Restore TiBu apps, LPP settings, Accounts

Done.. Make sure it all works. Piece of cake.. Cold beer time.

You can't run a Froyo nandroid on GB or vice versa, they're two different OSs. You also don't have to SBF if you're running the latest Froyo build, regardless of roms or themes (just don't forget to wipe data).

codustyle
04-12-2011, 11:23 PM
Thanks for the response... that's what if figured. I read something about the kernels being different which would keep you from being able to restore a froyo back up on top a gb one. It sure didn't work for me.

Just doesn't make sense tho. Ill admit I don't know that much but I thought a backup up thru clock work was an entire flashed image of your phone... so then when u u go to restore it .. it would be able to put it right back how it was, kernel and all. But im guessing I don't understand how a kernal works.

I just love the new blur gb app tray and status bar. But the functions and speed within rubix 2.0 and apex 1.4 make me wanna flip back every once in a while. Not to mention its such a hassle to freeze the status bar just to use wifi tether in gb. Has anyone found a better route? I know the 3g hotspot app is now a part of the status bar and can't be frozen like in froyo... so freezing the whole dam bar is the only way I've been able to get around it...

As far as blurry bread... im excited for real gb rom's .... I know he said he put it together quick but I loaded it anyways cuz it'll be easier to flash over the update when he's done.... which I bet will be siiiiiiiiiick if focused2.0 was any indicator. But I do love that gb blur app tray. Please keep!

Spare parts batt info still fc'ing on everybody? Is there anything useful in blurry bread as it stands now? I can't tell.

Very odd..
Fresh blurry Flashed RBB over gbrooted this morning.. Wiped all.. Flashed on full battery.. Restored fresh Ti Bu apps + data. Nothing frozen yet. Function appears to be great.. Lag free, zippy by feel a bit more than stock gb. Nothing frozen yet.. Basically stock build with accounts and basic functions verified working, gmail, phone, contacts, calendar, etc.

However, something very strange or maybe not. Quadrant score was only 1100ish first time, after reboot a mid-1500s score. I figured that's pretty low considering the build.

I ran out of time with the phone for troubleshooting. Any ideas?

Granted I understand I'd rather have a quick zippy phone without lags, verses just a good quadrant score, of course. :) I just thought the score was meant to be an indicator of performance. If however, others are seeing the same, but the phone "in use" is a bunch faster than stock and better battery life, etc etc.. I'll take that over a silly great quadrant score anyday. I haven't tried Linback (I think it's called yet) but will.

to be honest quadrant scores arent exactly accurate, you could run three or so and then average them .. well this "rom" so to speak has drod's tweaks to it. Meaning it should run faster/snappier. Its debloated (all the nasty apps preisntalled are removed.. vz navigator, madden football, need for speed and the like) . It is all zipaligned to help run themes better (easiest way to describe it if you dont exactly know what that means) init.d supported (Android Booting - eLinux.org (http://elinux.org/Android_Booting) ) basically means it speeds things up

Hilarious, actually. :) And it's right.. If I hit a big list and scroll and it flies without lockup and lag, or open an app or change screens without delay or a second for it to "think", and it performs data/web actions quickly and other transitional things fast, I'm good.. I'm leaving quadrant alone except for an occassional guage with a grain of salt. Now to freeze some bloat and maybe run a quickclock calibrations to get some voltage optimization for battery.

Thanks for the answer, that seems pretty simple to understand.

First I rooted by phone, then I added GB, then I added the Gingercomb theme.

Is there anything I need to do before installing Rubix Blurry Bread? Do I need to get rid of gingercomb, then out in RBB and then re-add gingercomb? Or can I just add RBB with the way I have my phone now? Sorry about all the ?s lol.

One more ?...I'm assuming when I put RBB on my phone, all the stuff on my phone will be erased? How do I go about preserving everything I have now on my phone so that when I add RBB, I won't lose anything? Thanks and sorry for the noobness.

Id switch in a heart beat. Its a similar setup but way faster and cleaner status bar. Quadrant scores over 2000 everytime (whether or not u believe in them). Linpacks of 18-20. I was on the edge before when I was running the leak about going back to rubix 2.0 or apex just cuz the having to freeze the status bar if I needed to tether was annoying.... now im on ota ill never go back. This thing is a monster. The leak is just that.. a leak. Why wouldn't u want the ota ?? TBH even put in an option to do an advance restore of ur data which restores your entire leak setup. But the speed is what sealed the deal for me

I flashed this rom on the initial leak and I must say I couldn't see an improvement over stock. Battery life seemed the same too.

Make sure you update it with that info that ALL flashing or anything made for 4.5.573 will take you back to 4.5.573 instead of 4.5.588 lol there are actually a considerable amount system file changes between the two leaks...

He does a lot of work with the T-Bolt and tablets now, and he sold his X, so it's likely dead...
