View Full Version : Flashed Non-Rooted GB, can't SBF back to 3.3.340, stuck in bootloader 30.04

Hi everyone.

I flashed the leaked GB as soon as it came out, not realizing that I would lose root in doing so. I've tried to SBF my phone for the last 12 hours using RSD lite 4.7, 4.8 and 4.9 with VRZ_MB810_2.3.34_1FF_01.zip that is the latest SBF available. I get a FAIL message after every attempt and it brings me back to

Bootloader
30.04

Code Corrupt
Battery OK
OK to Program
Connect to USB
Data Cable

I am re-downloading the SBF right now and am also downloading the system-only SBF to give that a shot.

Any help would be greatly, greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance -

Adam

How long do you wait before unplugging phone

adamfyre
03-30-2011, 01:56 PM
I've been unplugging it anywhere from immediately to a minute or so later. Should I leave it plugged in?

After a failed SBF, reboot the PC and try again

Thank you, I have done that several times. Any other ideas? Am I just screwed?

Thank you again for taking the time to help me. I re-downloaded the full sbf and have also tried the system only sbf, all with the same result.

Stuck. Anyone out there have any ideas? I would be very grateful for any help.

Use rsd lite 4.9, uninstall all others, try moving the sbf file to the /motorola/rsd lite folder

From the X

Thank you, I'm doing that right now.

Also at about 97% watch for a driver window to pop up. If i didn't acknowledge it the sbf would kinda like time out. On the load when I acknowledged the window it was successful. Don't know if this will help but worth a shot.

I haven't seen that but look for it, thank you. Running XP through VMWare on the mac now, wow it's fast.

Sorry if it seems I'm spamming this thread but... I got my SBF to work by using RSD 4.8 with system only sbf .340 i also used the tooltip.disable. just letting OP know in case this works.

It's not spamming if you are providing information relevant to the topic at hand in the proper thread. Thanks for the info.

If you plan on installing GB, you may still want to SBF the full 2.3.340 beforehand..

If you run the program as administrator would you have to worry about that?

I believe the op is using the wrong sbf. That looks like a zip file and iirc the dull sbf isn't a zip unless you get the one to flash I'm clockwork. Beat best is to get the file out of the sbf thread. Full. 340 sbf.

This thing is to much fun.

Yeah I would but..this whole FAIL at the end of the full 2.3.340 scared the crap out of me. I'll stay on Froyo...for now.
I wonder if it was a corrupt SBF file I may have downloaded?

Hold home while hitting power, if your on froyo hit search once the triangle comes up if your on GB then hit both volume keys up and down. Then go to factory reset with volume keys, and enter with power if on GB or camera if on froyo.

I was having the same fail issue at loading ram for bootloader I heard suggestions like trying another sbf file and using different versions of rsdlite. I wasn't able to download any of these so I went to Verizon with bootloader stuck phone and they sbfed. They used a program called motorsd

Have to do that every time i flash after i was running a custom rom. That should do it.

You can try linux, either do it yourself or check out this pre-made disk file

1KDS, i tried your suggestion but I could not get the linux to load correctly. I am on a mac so I had to run it through VMWare. However, i gave up on that and just did a full install of Ubuntu. But when I flashed the .sbf it gets stuck at "Waiting for phone". I have installed the sbf_flash file and have tried both the full and system-only sbfs with no luck. Any idea what I can do to fix this? And thank you for your help.

If you are trying to SBF back to Froyo using version 2.3.340 here are the basic steps..

FOR WINDOWS OS ONLY

Install RSDlite v4.8 or 4.9

Install 32 or 64 bit drivers (os dependent)

Download VRZ_MB810_2.3.34_1FF_01.zip

Unzip the .zip file!

Open RSDlite and click on '...'

If you are using Windows 7 you MUST run RSDlite as Administrator!

Nav & select VRZ_MB810_2.3.34_1FF_01.sbf

Power down your phone.

Press CAMERA + VOLUME DOWN + POWER

Wait for the bootloader screen...

If your bootloader is not 3.04 DO NOT PROCEED

Select your device in RSDlite

Start the SBF (It will take a bit)

When asked to manually reboot your phone, pull the battery and boot into bootloader mode again!

It should tell you the SBF was successful.

Power down the phone.

Press HOME + POWER

When you see the triangle, android and exclamation point press SEARCH

Use VOLUME KEYS to scroll down to wipe data/cache.

Select using the POWER button.

Wait for it..

Wipe data/cache two+ times to avoid errors, bootloop, FC'S, etc..

Scroll and select the option to reboot your phone.

Hopefully, this helps a bit. Don't forget to activate your phone again afterwards using *228

You don't have the drivers if it can't see the phone. Or try another USB port.

drewlaqua

Are there drivers for Linux? When the SBF started it said that it recognized the phone but it still keeps getting stuck on "Waiting for phone". And as for the windows directions, thats what I tried many times and kept failing so I am trying to do it with Linux now. And yes, I had the drivers for Windows.

Droid-Xer
04-13-2011, 09:12 AM
No for linux there are no drivers. I believe you just run the commands. I haven't done it on linux before.

drewlaqua
04-13-2011, 10:27 AM
Ok, thats what i thought. I heard somewhere that when it says "waiting for phone" you should just unplug the phone and then plug it back in. I havent been able to try that yet but if that doesnt work then im completely stumped.

I ended up figuring it out. The problem when i tried 1KDS's linux program was that I was using VMWare and apparently running linux on a virtual machine doesn't play nicely with USB ports. So I ended up burning the .iso to a CD and booting from that and it worked. Thanks everyone for the help, especially 1KDS.

Pretty sure my thread just got deleted, but whatever. Anyways the linux dropbox from 1KDStaz is currently generating too much traffic and I cannot download the linux file. Anyone got a different link to what I am trying to access?

there are other links in the OP, they are in a quote. The new version (0.7) is uploading now also.
