Hi, I was wondering how to update my droid x that has 2.2 to the current version of android. It isn't possible to do it OTA for some reason. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Did you get it from a Cricket Wireless store or are you just flashing a used Verizon X to Cricket?

Well I bought the droid x new and flashed it to cricket myself.

Well I bought the droid x new and flashed it to cricket myself.

Then you won't get any OTA updates, because they come from VZW, and you are longer on VZW, system .sbf or 2.3.340 update zip would get you there, but then you might have to re-flash back to Cricket I would assume.

Yes you would have to reflash Cricket because the radios in the SBF are written for VZW...

I guess also make sure the Cricket Flash is compatible with the latest version, not sure if it matters, just don't want you to get stuck.

I really don't know what flashing to cricket entails but I would think you could flash the 2.3.340 system only SBF and the TBH patches except the radio. This would effectively update everything except the radio to 2.3.340.

Here's the Cricket flashing thread, doesn't say anything about what version someone needs to be on, so it should be good...

Alright guys, I really appreciate it. Do any of you have a good guide that you could guide me to that instructs on SBF installations? And I wouldn't be bothered on doing another cricket flash. Thanks again!

Here's the guide (http://www.droidxforums.com/forum/droid-x-rs-guides/12015-complete-droid-x-sbf-flashing-guide.html)
I would flash the 2.3.340 system only sbf, this should update your system to .340, then root with z4root (http://www.droidxforums.com/forum/droid-x-hacks/13259-z4root-download-links-get-your-root-here.html) then use all the TBH patches (http://www.mydroidworld.com/forums/droid-x-discussion/5789-tbh-patches-2-3-340-system-baseband-2-3-340-kernel-bootloader.html) except the radio.

so I have flashed the system only files to my phone with RSD and my phone booted up afterwards but on RSD it says "please manually power up this phone" and in the "result" pane it says "in progress..." what do I do? can I disconnect it? I shut down my phone and turned it back on while it was still connected via usb. but I am scared to unplug it.

If your phone booted into the os you should be good to unplug it

alright so I have everything working now. I re-rooted, and flased my phone to cricket again. I can make calls and texts but for some reason the data isn't working, like it wont sign into my gmail account. I haven't done the kernel update yet cause it is downloading super slowly but I doubt that would be what is causing it. so I have to have it flashed with a rom?

It might be downloading slow because it is on TBH's server which is super overloaded right now with the gingerbread leak. I can't help too much with the cricket transition as I've never done it or helped anyone with it.
