Since this was asked for in a few different threads, I figured I'd save myself some trouble and just start a new thread for it instead of head to every thread where it was requested... I'm a bit scatterbrained and probably would miss a bunch.

This is to be flashed in clockwork to replace your boot logo with the Bee.

It looks rather nice combined with this boot animation (http://www.droidxforums.com/forum/droid-x-hacks/19756-motorola-xoom-boot-animation-your-droid-x.html) we made the other day.

I might tweak it a bit yet as I'm not sure it looks quite perfect, I think the bee is slightly off center, but it's a great start. I also think I'll try and re-make the pink version I have no idea how I made (messed up when hex editing somewhere I'm sure) but put it on a black background just because I know Maybish would probably want it.

Whoo! I think we should make an app like a Toolbox, people buy it and download animations and logos lol

There are already at least 2 (TBH and JRummy) boot logo apps, and a few boot animation apps.

Oh, well crap lol

I should talk to P3Droid and see about being integrated into the TBH app (just kidding of course)

I'm not sure how to submit boot logos to the TBH app, but I believe it is possible to send it to them and they add it to the list or something, think the same goes for JRummy's. They both also support adding a custom logo from your SDCard if you have it in the raw .bin format.

I'll talk to both of them, see what they say.

Ok, I lied. I'm not contacting them. They only do boot logos which are all over and file submissions are too hard. I suppose if I had to I would go through the work but I don't want to be all talk and not come out with something lol

i know you should have a full battery when flashing a new rom but does it matter if your battery is full when flashing a theme or boot animation?

thanks

Not that I'm aware of. I've done it often enough without.

I have no idea where the thanks button has disappeared now that we switched to the likes system...

I'm going to go ahead and convert that into a boot logo tonight. Any chance you could get those gradients in pinkish? I did it somehow by accident before, but when trying to do it on purpose, I can't get the shading right. And I've said I'd get it done, but I'm just failing getting it done right. I could probably pull it off if I had my software again, but I've lost the installers for it. Trying to figure out PS since I do have access to that at work, but I don't really have time to photoshop images at work. It's basically the same... Just different.

I've been using Gimp as well since it's what I was able to get a hold of quickly at home.

As for what pink, not sure, I just know some of the people here really like pink...

And nice timing, I just updated the OP with the purple version. Now to make the pink. :)

You can use this file (http://www.mediafire.com/?aum864opyrryxdt) to re-install the default Motorola M logo.

I've had some bad luck trying to change boot animation. I used jrummy's root tools and ended up with a blank screen. Fortunately I was able to reinstall the Apex boot animation from th tool box. Is there any known problems with Apex and doing these changes?

I never tried the tools, but I don't see why there would be any problem with using them. Perhaps you had a bad download through the tools? Personally, I usually manually copy the bootanimation.zip file to my phone to overwrite the one there when I'm testing them, after I know they are working the way I want them, I make them into a clockwork flashable file and that's how I switch between them. I keep a copy of all the boot animations in a directory on my SD card and will boot into clockwork to change them. A bit more time consuming than changing on the fly, but a bit easier since I don't have to deal with deleting the current one and renaming the one I copied. Besides, not like I can see the boot animation without rebooting anyway.

With the boot logos, not sure how the boot logo apps manage those, I've not actually tried using them, so I don't know. I'm guessing since they apparently allow you to drop a custom logo in a folder that it will install that it installs it through the code in the app instead of booting into clockwork to install. I only know how to install them via clockwork though.

Out of curiosity, why post in a thread about boot logos instead of a thread about the boot animations... Either way, you got the best answer I can give ya. :)

Here are a few "Bee" boot logos I made from some pics I found...
Are any of those technically even bees? I see wasps and yellowjackets.

They definitely aren't the boot logo for the Xoom. They are pretty cool though. Might want to start a new thread with them so other people will find them. They might not read through the thread and find them back here. I'll add them to my list of boot logos with a link to the post, but I'd rather have a separate thread to link to. (I'll update the listing in the list if you put them in another thread as well.)

After I flashed it in using clockwork every time i shut off my phone the next time i turn it on it loads into clockwork and i have to select reboot system now, can i fix this so it just boots up like normal?

Gorgarath
03-25-2011, 02:53 PM
When you are turning your phone on, are you doing any of the things that cause clockwork to boot up instead of a normal boot? The one that always gets me is if I have my phone off while on the charger, if you turn your phone on while it's still on the charger, clockwork boots up.

yeah i suppose that's the case, made sure to try it out and sure enough clockwork started up while attached to the charger. thanks for clarification

Open DX Bootstrapper. Click on the top option. Hit ok. Close it out. It wont do it again.

Fyi, on my themed deo'd gingy install, the new logo wouldn't disappear on the first boot. It seemed to boot as usual as far as I could tell though. A battery pull and reboot seemed to solve the issue.
