Okay, quick question.

Im interested in rooting my X. I've read all the guides. I've watched debiandog's video (a few times actually, and ill probably watch it a few more just to get all the information to set in more).

All that being said. One small question.

Just how long is z4root supposed to take?

Thank you for your help in advance. Im sure this will only be the first question in a long line of questions on my adventure in rooting my phone.

More to why I ask.

I ran z4 last night. And over an hour and a half later it still wasn't done.

It depends on the phone, sometimes it takes 30 seconds, sometimes a few minutes. General rule of thumb is if it runs much more than 5 minutes back out of the app or pull the battery and start over. Best method is: download and install z4, settings>apps>development>turn usb debugging on>reboot>give it a minute to let everything start>open z4>click permanent root

It varies from what I've read, however, it took my DX about 30 seconds.

Ya, mine went real quick, had usbdebugging on, unknown sources on, downloaded z4 root with the phone, installed the app rebooted phone, went into app and ran it, maybe 30 seconds and it was done.

I have noticed that if I root BEFORE activating my phone it only takes about 30-45 seconds. If I root after I activate I will have to pull the battery.

I maderstcok'ed and re-rooted 4 times last night to prove the theory to myself.

I was searching to make sure there wasn't a post stating this theory when I found this thread.

Has anyone else noticed this?

Okay. That worked.

Rebooted. Straight to z4 and it was done in about 30 seconds. Thanks!

Running titanium now and then off to more rooting adventures down the line. Thanks again!!

Nice. Seems to me good practice is to reboot phone after z4 is installed and before hiting root. Seems to work first try that way.

So, after a day out with the wife and some more research... I'm going with liberty 1.5 to start out.

I'll be flashing that here shortly!!

Wish me luck!
