View Full Version : Maderstcok vs. TBH .340 zip

Is there a difference between the mader and tbh .340 zip files?

Also, the .340 sbf posted earlier, we would only need that if we can't get into clockwork or brick, correct?

Last one ... the tbh .342 zip- since you can't root it (no clockwork) would you have to use the full sbf to get back to .340?

1. Maderstcok is run through clockwork and SBF is run on computer
2. 2.3.340 SBF only needed for brick and no clockwork
3. More than likely yes. If you do a leak, you should be able to SBF to the stock 2.3.340

The new full .340 SBF is also a one step solution to get back to completely stock form (minus the SD card) for warranty returns to VZW, whereas with the maderstcok file you still have to go through the process to uninstall Bootstrap.

If you are not returning the phone and can still get to clockwork, maderstcok is an easier process..

Thanks. I understand sbf is via computer and mader is a zip to install via clockwork. But is the mader any different from the zip that tbh just released (not the full sbf)

Maderstcok is made up of the 2.3.320 SBF and the 2.3.340 updater so first it flashes the 2.3.320 and then the 2.3.340 to get you to stock 2.3.340.

Ah so I wonder if the tbh version goes straight to .340

Yes. It's a full 2.3.340 sbf

Would there be any reason to use mader over this one now? Both run thru clockwork and achieve the same results.

Like explained earlier...if you can get into clockwork its easier to use maderstcok. Otherwise use the SBF.

I think something is getting lost here. TBH released a .340 zip to sbf via clockwork. I am not referring to the sbf that requires a computer

Ah. Well in that case they do the same thing. If it's an install zip they'll both get you to a clean 2.3.340.

Where is this 2.3.340 zip. I only see a full 2.3.340 regular SBF.

Its in the tbh app. The file size is smaller than the mader version so yes, my guess is this goes straight to .340 unlike mader. Same result, diff approach. Saves space on the sd card though :)

Really? Alright I suppose I could drop the few bucks and pick it up. Its worth it. Sorry, I thought u were talking about the SBF not a zip.

Its a worthwhile app to support some great devs ... and don't worry about the confusion, it was bound to happen when multiple files like this are released

The only reason I knew about this was that P3 posted about it on twitter

The TBH .zip seems to work quite a bit faster than Maders.

Pretty sure its quicker cause maders does .320 then .340 and this one is straight .340. Both effective though that ive read

It is about 30mb's smaller, but I didn't notice that much of a difference...Maybe I'll do some official time testing just for the heck of it.. :)

I was thinking of doing the same.

Ok, here's the results of the installation time trials between the TBH.340.zip and the maderstcok.zip

TBH time: 90 seconds

Mader time: 270 seconds

Definitely faster by 3 minutes... :)

For completeness sake, and since I was flashing anyways, I went ahead and timed doing the new full .340 SBF as well, Windows version..

SBF time: 9 minutes, 25 seconds...

Interesting side note: I posted earlier that the TBH.zip did not completely update because I didn't have to reactivate the phone, like the full .340 SBF did.

But you do with the maderstock.. Very interesting findings indeed...Significance? Dunno..Perhaps TBH did this on purpose so we could skip the reactivation?

Yes, you must download the paid Team Black Hat app ($1.99) from the Market in order to download any of their files. This is how they make sure they are getting something in return for their hard work, instead of just a 'donate' button on their site, which may, or may not get used much...

Here's the Market link:
