I wonder if Sephtin could add something like a bootanimation selector to his CustomTheme site.
I have seen quite a few of these types of boot animations around. Would be great to consolidate them to a theming site like Sephtins.

Or even add additional functionality to the Liberty Toolbox to download and install.
Kind of like they do with the themes.

I'm digging that Android Particles 1 animation. Wish you could install lime a theme, and just install the zip file.

He's already working on the ability to remove the clock from the notification bar, removing the battery icon too, and installing the no throttle hack all in the same .zip...Perhaps this will be next on the list...

To install the animations, I use Root Explorer (very handy app and worth the couple of bucks):

- d/l the file to your computer
- connect phone and transfer the file to your sd card
- use Root Explorer to go to the /data/local directory
- long press on the bootanimation.zip that is there and rename it to bootanimation.bak
- goto where you put the file on your sd card
- long press on the file, hit copy
- go back to the /data/local directory and paste it there
- long press the file and change the name to bootanimation.zip
- long press the file and hit permissions, change it to look like this by checking/unchecking boxes

- close Root Explorer and reboot. Should be good to go... :)

Yeah I don't have root explorer. Can it be done on the phone itself? Instead of the computer??

Here's the other 2 methods from the XDA thread, but they all involve hooking it up to the computer.. I just prefer Root Explorer..

ADB
- Install the android SDK
- Open Command Prompt
- Locate the SDK tools folder where ADB is located (example: <cd c:\android-sdk-windows\tools>)
- Now enter the following code in Command Prompt
adb remount
adb push c:\temp\480x800_AndroidGlow1.zip /data/local/bootanimation.zip
adb reboot

Terminal Emulator
- Connect your phone to your computer via USB
- Copy the downloaded file to your sdcard
- Disconnect phone from computer
- Open Terminal Emulator on your phone and enter the code below (press enter after every line)
su
cp /sdcard/480x800_AndroidGlow1.zip /data/local/bootanimation.zip
reboot

I also use Dropbox, so once I d/l the file to the computer, it sync automatically to the phone, so I don't have to hook it up to transfer the file..

Root explorer is the easiest way, I've already tried 3 of them! They look great.

If needed, I can convert the one you want to a clockwork flashable file that you can then download on the phone and install via clockwork.

I'd be interested in that if you're willing. I'm new to basically everything post-root, so simplicity is what I'm looking for :-)

Well, the blue particle one is right over here (http://www.droidxforums.com/forum/droid-x-hacks/20462-blue-android-particles-sound-boot-animation.html) if you don't mind having sound added to it. Though the sound only seems to work if you're on ApeX 1.4.1 from what I've heard so far. I really need to go and test it on a bunch of ROMs.

Cool. Is there any chance you could get a clockwork flashable version without the sound? I have no problem waiting for it if you're busy tonight. Thanks.

When you installl a bootanimation with sound, an .ogg sound file is placed in your /system/media folder. All you have to do is delete that sound file and you're golden.

It says I'm unable to delete it because it's "read-only". Any solutions?

It's actually an mp3, but yeah, delete that and you're good. I didn't make a clockwork flashable silent version of this one simply because it wasn't one that I made and I did it real quick between periods of the hockey game. Figured anyone who wanted the original could just download the original and drop it in /data/local themselves.
