So I was wondering, whats the difference between titanium back up and the droid x bootstrap. I mean you can rom your phone without either right? all they do is back up all the information. so if you mess up cant you just install madderstock?

Welcome to the forum!

The quick version is that:

TiBU is for backing up your apps, and freezing 'bloatware' that you don't want to run. It's very convenient, but not necessary. There is another program called MyBackupPro that has similar functions.

Bootstrap is the 'Master' program, that allows you to make a complete backup of your phone's state, flash Rom's, themes, hacks etc.., and is necessary in order to use the Maderstcok.zip file, among others.

Both of these programs require Root access. If you're not rooted, they will not function.

There's lots of good reading to be done on this site concerning both of these programs..Hope this helps..

I use bootstrap to make a backup of my phone before I do anything and then use TiBu to only backup and restore my apps
