View Full Version : Recover contacts with Bad Screen

I have the screen issue that I have read so much about. I can see the top 1/4" of the display and the rest is lines. I, being an idiot, did not backup my contacts.

Verizon tried to recover my contacts with no luck... they are not in Google. I even spent time trying to talk to Motorola's version of "Peggy"!!

I have to send the broken phone back next Tuesday and I am out of ideas... Any suggestions would be great!

Thanks, Lori

Can you still use your screen, just not see what is visible? If so, you can try the following...

Scroll thru the app drawer till you find your address book (contacts) and open that...the next part will be a bit tricky but if you can hard menu key, you will get a popup box at the bottom of your screen (now I am on a custom ROM so if you are still stock, someone may need to verify the positions)...the bottom row, middle is import / export & then the 2nd option is export to SD card and then you get a confirm box...

When you say, they are not in Google - did you look under all contacts via your computer (sign into google.com/mail and look at contacts) and you could try (if the screen is working) to make sure that you have your contacts checked to sync...

The screen is working but I don't think it is lined up correctly any more.
The tech at Verizon (who seemed pretty sharp) set his DX and mine side by side to try & judge where the buttons should be... that didn't go well, but I'll give it another shot.
I did log into to my GMail - there were 5 out of maybe 50 that were over there (probably the first I put in).

Any idea if I can use the HDMI to see the screen on my TV?

idk about the HDMI, have you ever used backup assistant? you can log into that online and check to see if your contacts are there
