Ok, reading through the guide, it's all about Windows. I own no Windows machines. Am I hosed as far as rooting goes?

Nope, you don't even need a computer to root anymore

Like Mike said, boot in Bootstraper and make a backup. You'll be glad you did. You might want to install Titanium Backup as well. It allows you to backup your apps and data and restore them on future roms.

Let me suggest that you use chrome or firefox as a browser. If you use safari it will decompress the files when you are downloading ROMS and add an extra .zip and it won't install.

probably already obvious by now,but a MAC shouldn't make a difference. i've seen people with DroidX's drag and drop files to and from their MAC.

I'm very partial towards Liberty 1.5 as it let's you do and install themes from within the ROM.

Honestly, every ROM I'be tried I've dl'd directly to the phone. I've never used a computer for root/ROMing this phone.

In the "bad old days" I rooted from my Mac but now it is just a one click and done.

I drag/drop files all the time to my DX thru my Macs. Not an issue.
