Try it a few times. Wickedness uploaded some mirrors to also try. His links for z4 are in my signature.

Worked like a champ for me, first shot. If it hangs, reboot your X and try it again.

Worked for me the first time too. I read somewhere and performed a temporary root first. Then after it was done I then went right back and did a permenint root. It automatically rebooted per Z4's command and now I'm rooted.

Always reboot before trying to root.
The exploits work better on a fresh load of the kernel.
If you rely on buffer overflow and such the kernel should be fresh after a reboot.

It may work other times but it's best after a reboot.

I'm a complete Droid Noob. I have had my X for 2 days. The day after I got it I updated to 2.3.340. I was a little concerned by all the efuse hype and I joined this forum today because I wanted to say thank you for the info on z4... I rooted 10 min ago.

glad it's working for most...

The file I uploaded to megaupload on 12/4 reached 1601 downloads as of today. :)

z4root is by the far the best way to root, in my opinion. If it wont work, rebot, maybe even do a battery pull. I unrooted using z4root before the update (even though it was not needed) and then after update rebooted my phone, had no issues with re-rooting with z4root.

And as always, welcome to the community!!!

Yup some times several tries are needed. Look in my sig for mirrors as well. Courtesy of wicked.

Hey guys,

I been searching around the forums and can't seem to find a solution for my problem, hope you guys can help.

Ever since I installed the new update, I am not able to re-root my phone. I tried RootMyX2 and Z4mod, both with no luck.

With the Z4, after following the directions, it seems as though it roots the phone and restarts. But when I try to use the Root required apps, it says I have no root rights. :(

Try a root method that's not one click. Rather than trying to figure it out, might as well just try an alternative. Google "doroot.bat " thats what I always used before z4 root became available.

Possible solutions, just the obvious: battery pull. Reinstall, make sure its version 1.3.0, try a temporary root first then a permanent root. Search for a four leaf clover, once you find one, try to root again.

First time rooter. Z4 worked like a charm after the new update. Disabled Dr Web and rebooted phone before rooting .

The easiest and fastest way to get it to work is by first setting your phone to airplane mode. Then reboot. Then run z4. It will only take 15-20 seconds.

I had no issues rooting after the OTA update. Ran Z4 in temporary first, then permanent. Worked like a charm.
