I have had my DX since launch day and I rooted it with Sil3ntKi11's Root X 2.2. That worked perfectly until the update to 2.2.1. I then couldn't get z4rooot to work. It looks like it roots, restarts the phone, but the phone isn't rooted. I downloaded terminal emulator and when I type in "SU", it says "permission denied". I have tried to wipe the phone back to factory settings, but still no luck. It still has the icon for SuperUser on it, but it's just a black screen in the app when opened. I have also tried rooting and unrooting from Sil3ntKi11's program, but it locks up and no success. I have tried multiple battery pulls, with no success. Any thoughts or anyone who had the same problem? Thank you in advance for helping me in my situation!

Thank you, but that is the same version that I am running already (1.3.0). Each time that I run it, it looks like it was successful, but the terminal emulator says "permission denied" when I try to run "SU". Also, when I open up z4root again, my screen is the same as the original screen with the two options being "temporary root" and "permanent root". It doesn't look like your screen on your page with the unroot option.

I am so frustrated that I am starting to lose it!!! lol

Um...I just took a look at that and it looks like some of it is over my head. I send it to a friend of mine who has a rooted x who is a computer guru, so I'll have to see what he says. Any way to do it that's a little easier?

Try VISIONary root app. It seems to work for some people. Google it.

If you guys are getting errors press the search hard key when the zip says it can't install update and will tell you what the error is. Most of the time is because an apk doesn't have proper permissions.

I ended up calling VZW yesterday and got a replacement sent out. It arrived next day and I activated it. z4root ran perfectly on it and I'm now rooted again! Love it! Thanks for your suggestions anyways Droid-Xer!
