I am currently on android version 2.2 OTA and my system version is 2.3.15. I had updated to 2.2 before deciding to root and I think i am currently running the 928droidx black glass deodexed theme. How do I go about updating to 2.3.340.en.us??? My phone has already automatically downloaded the update but I keep pressing install later until I know how to go about updating.
Thanks

Do you have a backup prior to the theme? All your bloatware is still in tact?

I have a backup and I just restored to it. Not sure what bloatware is. Can't I just remove root and update then reroot?

So you did have a stock backup? That's great. If you don;t know what bloatware is, you probably don't need to do anything with it. Bloatware is the apps most people don't want like blockbuster, amazon, etc. If you didn't delete/rename/freeze these apps you should be ready to accept the update, you don't need to unroot, you will likely lose root with the update and have to reroot. Let me know if you need z4 after the update.

You'll just lose root on the update as stated above... but if you've made a backup your using bootstrap - which will have to be removed, atleast with my experience.

Looks good. Anything wrong with updating this way?

You don't have to, you should be able to take it OTA (the official update from verizon)

Ok so I think I made my backup after rooting the first time. Which is the backup I just restored. So I still have root now. Am I still able to do that ota update or should I follow the instructions in the video to update?

And if restoring doesn't odex a phone after it was deodexed then do I have to odex my phone before updating? Or does it not matter?

If you restored a stock backup (before ROMs and themes) it will be odexed. You should be ready for the update as long as you didn't delete/rename/freeze bloatware

you have to test it with a root app to see if you're actually rooted or not
