I just got my droid X three days ago. I have the 2.2.1 and its rooted. I want to install rom's and tweaks and I have no idea how to do any of these things and I dont want to "brick" it. I will pay upto $20. my pm me for my gmail.

edit: I need a pro, I also want to overclock and imrpove batterlife. etc..

You don't need to pay. start by rooting with z4root from market its free and easy then get bootstrap recovery and run that, then download rom manager and install the rubix focused rom its the fastest and very stable. But before you do anything get titanium backup pro version and do a backup of all apps and data. Do your research here, its pretty basic once you learn a little..good luck

+1 on roooler's thread, browse the ROMs section, blurless ROMs will be much faster than stock, droid x overclock by jrummy works well for overclocking/undervolting. Really just browse the development section here, most all questions have been answered.

when I said programming, I meant programs. And I will just keep posting on this thread to help me out with setting that optimal.

z4root isnt in the market.

12-10-2010, 07:44 PM
please read the thread before replying. My phone is already rooted.

edit: sorry you meant it for the guy that said it was in the market.

edit 2: Can some of you guys recommend me a list of programs to buy for overclocking etc. Anything to make the best out of my droid X.

One more questions does rubix work for 2.2.1

12-10-2010, 08:41 PM
No rubix focused isnt for 2.2.1 yet unless youre on the leak...which Im assuming youre not. Just wait a few days weeks and itll happen

posts 5 and 7 make it seem like it works on the 2.2.1 ota

12-10-2010, 08:55 PM
My bad 1kds, i just saw the post where its for leak only. Sephtin updated it after I saw the OP. Still the latest OTA won't affect it one way or another since its a blurless ROM. The OTA fixed bugs for blur. Oh well. Some people get upset when I say the OTA isn't worth it right now. So I won't say it's not worth it.

All the help is already here, venture out of this thread. The two popular apps for overclocking have been mentioned. Roms and themes are a personal preference. Blurless roms are generally faster but if you like the blur, there are roms like that too.

Look, no one wants money on this forum for advice. We help cuz we can. If you have questions, then ask. If you see a donate button, then donate. There's tons of advice on this forum that is priceless. Offering money wont get you faster help, it'll get you more opinions. Search first then ask question's.

If you want a minimalist ROM with easy overclocking I believe Apex Rom v1 is just right for you. It is default overclocked and really fast. Find it here (http://androidforums.com/droid-x-all-things-root/226539-rom-apex-1-2-series-droid-x-functionality-performance-12-7-10-a.html). Place the zip in your root directory and then go into bootstrap recovery. Navigate to update with zip and select the zip file. Find the yes out of all the nos and you are good

Carful with the built in overclocking/undervolting on some ROMs. A lot of phones don't play nice with that script. Its just as easy to run the commands in terminal emulator after the install. So I would decline the option for the overclock/undervolt at the initial install.
