Hey guys, not really interested in rooting at this point, but VzW stores refuse to flash me to 2.2, they just act like they don't know what i'm talking about.

Trying to fix an issue where my phone locks up when charging over 80%.

Tried everything but a clean 2.2 install. I've found the files and the 4.8 RSDlite off of rootswiki, but I don't know how to install them. I'm not unskilled at modifying things, but I've never worked with a phone. Some direction would be awesome!

I've found a lot of guides, but they are for installing 2.1 sbf updates and I want to make sure I do this correctly.

Thanks
Charlie

Charlie...Im an Android n00b myself and ended up bricking my phone this morning trying to load a ROM for the 1st time. It's fairly easy my friend...dont sweat it. Just find RSD Lite 4.9, the SBF...the drivers...and you will be set in under 30 mins.

Oh...and yes...I had to *228 and reactivate

Yeah you will have to re activate but it will be like the first time you turned the phone on just listen to the elevator music for a min. then your all set!

you think that will solve my battery lockup issue?

and thanks guys, this is a great forum, very friendly and helpful. :)

...unlike my local verizon stores. sigh.

if so, you may just need a new battery, but it sounds like software issues. look online for a good deal. then you can use your (hopefully not) defective one for an emergency backup

well i'm stuck on the bootloader now. still have an OK to program. I don't think I have a full 2.2 sbf. sigh. this wouldn't be happening if verizon had just done their damn job.

I've read that if you pull the battery, leave out for 10-15 minutes, re-insert, and turn phone back on has solved that issue.
Just a thought.

I will try that, thanks... so it might have loaded successfully?

I don't think I have a full 2.2 sbf.

Well, that is definitely important...make sure its not just a system sbf.

I made that mistake first time and it wouldn't take, but worked right away once I got the full one.

I got it from rootzwiki with the gift part 2 zip file...

it's just not showing a RAM DL version or a Bootloader Version.

ok well... i flashed 2.2 successfully. it completed successfully and rebooted with my settings intact, which was odd, shouldn't the flash have erased all my info? rsdlite never gave me a PASS ... it was stuck on processing.

then i did a factory reset/cache clear, and got the blue triangle and reactivated.

it does seem snappier, but it appears as though my issue with the phone locking up when charged to full has not been resolved.

did i do something wrong?

thanks again for the help guys. i'm sure i'll get it sorted.

tried my other batteries and chargers, and i'm still getting a lockup.

should i try rooting? or is it time to call VzW for a replacement?

Well all I can say is if it was full sbf it should not have had your settings still. But if your still within your 30 days vzw might give you a new one

i might have done something wrong with the sbf flash. are you supposed to catch a reboot or something?

thanks.

it will reboot during sbf process then it will say 100% and "manually boot device" just switch the usb connection to something different than what it is it will say done and you will half to do all the settings just like the first day you took it out of the box.
