Will rooting my 2.2 Droid X fix my issues with locking up on charging? According to what I have learned, I had a bad OTA 2.2 update, and it screwed some things up.

I've been reading these forums most of the evening on rooting, but I wanted to know if it had a chance to make the phone run well, vs the risk.

Thanks!

an sbf is a sure way to fix the problem... but rooting wont hurt, unless you do it wrong.

I think the roms are what you may be talking about

Did you already try to sbf? This sends it back to completely stock, how the manufacturer shipped it. So try this first for the 2.2ota. If you still have problems just contact Verizon and have them send you a new one. Verizon gives you a one year replacement on the X. You can try to root and rom, but ultimately you still might not fix the initial problem.

Well, I found fabian's thread on doing a clean 2.2

My battery actually showed 100% charge after ti, so that may have fixed the issue... it's charging again right now, we will see if it locks up. fingers crossed!
