For those who have SBF'd their phones with 2.2 (or 2.1, for that matter):

I recently bricked and had to SBF my phone. when I loaded up RSD lite 4.8 and went to SBF it, it took some (5 ?) minutes to reach a point where it looked to be about done. after it, rather than terminate with SUCCESS (which i would have preferred), it terminated with (FAIL), and something about not being able to write flash (i forget the precise error).

The real question is that even though (both for 2.1 and for 2.2) it SAID fail, when I went to reboot the phone, it appears that it had, in fact, flashed/sbf'd properly, because in the case of 2.1, it reverted me to 2.1, and allowed me to OTA to 2.2. Now, on 2.2, I needed an SBF to return, and in this case, it returned me to 2.2 without root, etc. (appears to be full stock).

I have two main questions (one, has anyone else experienced this?), and (two, is it okay that it ended with fail provided it seems to work?). My real concern for number 2 is that (not sure if it was related, as i didn't pay attention to when I started noticing it) my Charge Only option now mounts the SD card to computer rather than phone (and also, weirdly, although again, uncertain what it is related to) i have a problem with texting one of my friends (appears to only be this one number).

I am going to SBF again, root, and reflash my ROM to see if it solves the problem, but before I do, anyone want to chime in?

Thanks!!

There shouldn't be any errors. It does say fail but that's only after a successful flash. Then it tries to reboot the phone and at that point you disconnect your phone and go to the recovery menu and clear data and cache. Then reboot the phone. From there, that should be a successful SBF flash.

Flashing the SBF (in my experience) nearly always results in a FAIL message if you start the flash from the bootloader (volume down + camera when you power up the phone).
The SBF, however, does flash successfully.

When you flash the SBF with RSD Lite 4.8 --starting with your phone on and with USB debugging enabled-- it puts the phone into the bootloader and when it finished the flashing process you should come up with a PASS message.

Actually when it says "manualy boot device" and stays at 99% if you leave usb plugged in and switch usb mode to something different than what its on curently. It will finish Even when flashed from bootloader. Not that it matters jus sayin
