View Full Version : Unstable apps overclocker going above 1.1GHZ

I cannot get this stable at anything above 1.1ghz. I keep reading other people clocking 1.2, 1.3, or even 1.4ghz using this app and it running good. Anytime i try any of those or even manually adjust voltage settings per slot the phone becomes unresponsive and slow as a turtle. I guess im just looking for any specific preset that someone uses to go above 1.1 with this app that actually works

I'm stuck at 1.1 also.

In an unusual im glad to hear that....i think...lol
I just get jealous when i hear people running at higher speeds, i want that too. And i can't get my quadrant score higher than 1550

My post from the JRummy Thread

Okay, there are apparently some misconceptions about overclocking, and what a clock cycle is.

A microprocessor is comprised of may tiny little logic gates, made up of transistors. These are put together to achieve what we know as the microprocessor, capable of handling multiple instructions.

All of these gates however have a different propagation delay, meaning that it takes time for the result to be available. Obviously you can't use an answer before it's there, so in a processor, everything is synchronized based on the longest delay that exists in the processor.

Not every transistor acts the same, there's a deviation that exists during manufacturing, so it opperates within a certain range, but outside of that, they cannot guarantee that all Omap processors respond the same when the clock cycle is increased.

By overclocking, what you're really doing is telling the processor that the maximum delay is shorter than what it thinks. That's about it.

So instead of it waiting 1000 pico seconds for a result to be available, it will use the result after 800 pico seconds.

Hopefully that clears some things up

Currently running at 1.35, been as high as 1.45 with no problems. I've also read that some of the people that got their X's on launch day are having problems getting to 1.2, so I would assume that the old adage that no 2 phones are alike rings true in this case.

From what you posted im understanding that every processor reacts different. My only conflict with that is if that is true, then how can companies use the same processor on different boards clocked at different speeds?

Im at a stable 1.2 and scored a 1479. Perfectly fine with me!!

People should have tried to OC the normal way, in order to realize if they were capped around 1.1-1.2 before they went and bought the app.

so does this mean i'll never be able to clock higher with this phone or that different settings and further development is needed before it is possible?

It's a phone by phone case but some are capped around 1.1 (I'm capped at 1.175) and some can just make the jump much higher like 1.35-1.45. Development won't help

this app worked for me ;)

stock 2.2, no ROMs, no stagefright mods, etc...

Exactly what app worked for you???? Are you referring to quadrant standard or linpack???? What clock settings and voltage settings are you running to get those scores if you don't mind?

He's using stagefright so the quadrant score really doesn't count but id say he's probably overclocked around 1.2-1.3 tops. As for me with the app I can go up to 1.35 med to high voltage but battery suffers and I got the extended I use 1.2 on ulv andcan easily get 18+ he's of heavy use and that's starting at 7 am

read my post again, specifically said NO stagefright mod. youve seen people pulling 19.5 mflops @ 1.3ghz? LOL

to joeyc: i used the app that this thread is about to overclock.

Now i'm very jealous, i've come to find out that i'll probably never be able to get my X over 1.1ghz(i guess the processor just can't do it) and i'm also using the unstable apps app. well congrats on your scores and ability to go that high

nah dont be jealous... there is really no reason for these phones to be over 1ghz anyways. i just did it to see how far the droid x can go. for 24/7 use i keep mine at default clocks & undervolted, i honestly think thats the way to go for these
